Residents at Fomena in the Ashanti Region have commended government for resuming the construction of a hospital project which had been abandoned for years.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is demanding payment of at least 20 percent of debts owed it by the Kejetia market in Kumasi before power is restored to the market. ECG disconnected power to the entire New Kejetia market on Wednesday attracting angry reactions from the traders who have since threatened a demonstration in the coming days.

The Supreme Court has for the second time failed to deliver its judgement in a case challenging payment of salaries to spouses of the President and Vice President. The court now says it will deliver its judgement on July 27. The Court previously indicated it was delivering its decision on May 4 and July 22.

There was a gridlock at the Takoradi-Agona-Tarkwa highway on Tuesday evening, June 21. This followed a flooding situation after a downpour in that part of the Western Region.

Seven communities under the Krachi West Municipality have petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) and other government machinery to change their current status to the jurisdiction of Krachi East. Okuma, Adakope, Debume, Bator-kope, Koka-kope, Yaw Gyengyen-Akura and Kojo-Akua, predominantly fishing communities with a population of over 3,000 people want to be under the Krachi East Municipality.

Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye, has asked the Ghana Education Service to look into allegations that some teachers and administrative staff at Islamic Senior High School incited the pupils to embark on the protest. Mr. Asenso-Boakye said the right punitive action should be meted if the teachers are found culpable.

The police administration has promoted two of its officers for effecting the arrest of another officer suspected to be carrying 84 parcels of compressed dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. The two officers promoted are Inspector Azumah Komla Justice and Lance Corporal Felix Diameh.

The Ghana Police Service has admitted that a better approach to tackling the riot at Kumasi Islamic Senior High School could have been employed. According to the Service, a more calculated tactic could have led to a much salient resolution to the chaos and not the development that was seen in the Ashanti Region town on Monday.
