President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is open to a national conversation on the government’s Free SHS programme. He indicated that such a conversation should include funding, access, and sustainability.

Two brothers have inflicted cutlass wounds on a farmer, Ibrahim Indago, at Atta Ne Atta in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti Region. Narrating his ordeal to Adom News correspondent Isaac Amoako, Mr Indago said the two brothers attacked him following a misunderstanding over a goat.

Some six persons, who allegedly led the destruction at the Northern Regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tamale, have been detained after reporting themselves to the regional police. They are currently in custody assisting with investigations and expected to be put before court on Tuesday.

The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into circumstances leading to the death of a man who was allegedly attacked by one of the lions at the Accra Zoo. The incident, according to the Ghana Forestry Commission, happened on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at about 12:00 after officials of the Accra Zoo, on a routine patrol, noticed the lifeless body of the deceased in the lion’s enclosure.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday commissioned 13 Megawatts solar power plant at Kaleo in the Nadowli District of the Upper West Region. The £22.8 million solar plant of the Volta River Authority (VRA), which sits on a 20.4-hectare land began in February 2020 when President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for its construction.

The Forestry Commission with support from its taskforce and the military has arrested five galamsey operators in the Bosomtwe Range Forest Reserve in the Bekwai Forest District of the Ashanti Region. The suspects were arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit but a couple of them have been granted bail at the moment.

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) leadership says its members will withdraw their service indefinitely effective September 1, 2022. In a press release on Wednesday, the Association stated reasons including failure of government to implement agreed conditions of service as reasons for their intended strike.
