The government through the Ministry of Education has increased the financial allocations of students enrolled on the Student Loan Trust Fund programme by 50 per cent.

The Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH) was Tuesday temporarily closed down following violent protests by some students of the school.

The protesters, made up of final year students who are taking part in the ongoing West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and second year students numbering 1,461, were asked to vacate the school by 4 p.m.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) personnel at the Base Ammunition Depot in Michel Camp, have arrested a middle-aged man who was in the process of breaching the perimeter fence in order to gain entry into the Ammunition Depot. The suspect, Yaw Boateng, claimed he was from Ashaiman Tulaku and was trying to access the Ammunition Depot to seek aluminum plated materials for sale.

A man has allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds on his partner at Bepong in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region. The 40-year-old suspect, reportedly, perpetrated the act after the victim refused to be intimate with him.

Former President John Dramani Mahama, and his wife, Lordina, have inaugurated and presented to the Bole Community in the Savanna Region, a 45-bed maternity and children’s ward at the Bole District Hospital. Students who are expecting to write the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination ( WASSCE) may be disappointed due to the government’s huge indebtedness to the West African Examination Council (WAEC). The Minority, through its Ranking Member on the Education Committee, Dr Clement Apaak, has hinted that WAEC’s operations have been greatly affected due to the indebtedness.
