- Firstfruit giving obviously honored the LORD, because it gave the LORD His portion off the top before any was used for one’s self.

- This giving, and all giving done with the right heart, is a proper way to worship before the LORD your God.

- When we receive from the LORD, and give back to Him, it makes us rejoice. It is the proper response of a creature to his Creator, who has supplied him with all good things.

- Israel was to proclaim two things. First, that the LORD to be their God. Second, that they will walk in His ways and keep His statutes. The two go together, because the identity of our God is always demonstrated by the direction of our obedience.

GIVING FIRST FRUIT THE RIGHT WAY

1. God not only wants us to give, but to give with the right heart.

2. Right giving is done according to God’s Word

4. Right giving genuinely sets aside what is to be given unto the LORD.

5. Right giving is done with the expectation of blessing.

ISAIAH 58:1-14 KJV

- The reality was that His people didn’t fast with the right heart and did it only as an empty ritual. The reality was that even on a day when they fasted, they still exploited their employees. God didn’t accept their fasting when it wasn’t connected with a sincere heart of obedience.

- The kind of fasting God rebukes here is a hollow, empty, show, without the spiritual substance behind it. This isn’t the kind of fast God has chosen. Even though they do all the right things in fasting (bow down his head like a bulrush…spread out sackcloth and ashes), God does not even call this a fast.

- God tells His people, “If you want to fast the way that pleases Me, begin with getting right with your brothers and sisters. Stop oppressing others and reach out to help others.”

WHAT KIND OF FASTING PRODUCES RESULTS?

1. To loose the bonds of wickedness

2. To undo the heavy burdens

3. To let the oppressed go free

4. To break every yoke

5. To Share your bread with the hungry

6. To bring to your house the poor who are cast out

- God didn’t speak to Moses until He had Moses’ attention. Often God’s Word doesn’t touch our heart the way that it might because we don’t give it our attention.

PREPARATION TO BUILDING AN ALTAR

1. Reviving an altar.

2. Know the requirements needed for an altar.

3. The specific time for the sacrifice or offering.

- The prophets of Baal had an energetic prayer life. Their worship was filled with enthusiasm and activity. Yet because it was not directed to the real God, their prayer meant nothing.

- The prophets of Baal were utterly sincere and completely devoted to their religion. They were so committed that they expressed it in their own blood. They had zeal, but without knowledge – therefore their zeal profited them nothing.

- The prophets of Baal had passion, commitment, sincerity, devotion, and great energy. What they did not have was a God in heaven who answered by fire.
