LUKE 2:1-20 KJV

1. And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

DIMENISONS OF GIVING

1. TITHE

- Gods economy was not built by buying and selling; God's economy was built by sowing and reaping.

2. FIRST FRUITS

- They are a harvest we give to God as of our first priority.

- The word firstfruits appears on the bible 31 times. This is to let us know of it significance to the body of

SIGNIFICANCE OF GIVING FIRST

i) Giving our first fruits reminds us that God is our ultimate priority.

ii) It shows God that we are obedient to him and that we can be trusted by more.

3. ALMS

Bible readings: Psalm 41:1-3, Job 29:10-20

Alms are what we give to the poor or needy.

- You are not permitted to live long if you are mean.

- When you begin to give you graduate from begging.

SIGNIFICANCE OF GIVING ALMS

1. You will be blessed.

2. The Lord will deliver you in time of trouble.

3. The Lord will preserve you

4. The Lord will keep you alive

5. The lord will not deliver him

6. The lord will not deliver him to the will of your enemies.

7. The Lord will restore you in full health.

4. SEED

Bible readings: Mark 4:1-11

A seed is a kind of offering that you give to those who are senior than you.

- You do not give alms to those who are above you.

- You do not give God alms.

- Never give your pastor or mentor alms but rather a seed.

TRUTH ABOUT SEED

i) Seed is what you sow into grace not into a need.

ii) When you give a seed to them you harvest what they have.

- When you sow into a grace you attract that grace.

- When you give a seed to them you harvest what they have.

- Money is valueless until it becomes a seed.

5. VOWS

A vow is a promise you give to God when you are in trouble.

- A vow is the quickest prayer God can answer because you are entering into a deal with God.

- When you make a vow, you should uphold it.

6. THANKSGIVING

It is an offering you give to God as a reminder of the things he’s done for you

- It reminds God that you are still remembering where he has taken you form and that you have not forgotten.

7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
