  • AIE 101: #WealthWednesday Twitter Space: Real Estate SECRETS with Mary (4.27.22)

This week, Mary joined Stephen Wealthy, Coach Clint, and Tom the Frugal Gay (Lauren was absent) on their #WealthWednesday Twitter Space. The topic was real estate secrets and let's just say they're not so secret anymore. Mary had some great ideas about how to make offers look appealing to sellers. Tom has a profile for a bad realtor and bad listing - which is what you want to look for, by the way. Clint walked through a gem of a thread with numbers and location ideas. Stephen hosted and asked fantastic questions. You'll enjoy this one.

  • AIE 76: Lawyer Shocks Everyone He Knows By Retiring Early

This week, Lauren interviews the Landshark, who is entering early retirement. Except for his name, he's an open book in terms of salary, net worth, withdrawal strategy, and more. The Landshark is transparent about his family's journey, including not trusting the math for over a year. They discuss reactions of friends, family, and colleagues ("we're not as important to other people as we might think we are.") Why retire early? More time is not guaranteed, so why trade what time you have for money?

The Landshark is a husband and father who recently retired from a career as a practicing lawyer in his early 40s. Through a high savings rate and disciplined practice of investing in low-cost index funds, the Landshark was able to eliminate his debts and achieve financial independence. He's documenting the ups and downs of early retirement on his Twitter account (@iamlandshark) and on his blog at http://Landshark.org. He likes long walks on the beach and the occasional surfer and doesn't take himself too seriously and neither should you.

  • AIE 74: Empathy and Shame: We Can All Do Better

This week, Lauren brings you her interview with Michelle Jackson, of the Michelle Is Money Hungry podcast. The two discuss the origin of Michelle's interest in personal finance (she wrote a book at 7). Then, they dive into the topics at hand, including paying off debt, underearning, shaming others, and having empathy. They touch on the "if I did it, you can do it too" problematic attitude in the personal finance community.

Michelle Jackson doesn't consider herself a financial expert. Instead, she calls herself an expert at having financial conversations. Her goal is help people better their finances one conversation at a time. Michelle is the founder of the award winning "Michelle is Money Hungry" podcast and website, author of the upcoming book "Not a Financial Unicorn" and current host of the "Plutus Foundation" Podcast. When she's not talking money, you'll find her roaming around her state of Colorado.
