एशिया में तेज़ी से महानगरीय शहर की ओर अग्रसर बंगलोर भारत के प्रमुख शहरो में से एक है।

वर्तमान में सबसे उच्च तकनीकी उद्योग में माने जाने वाले सूचना प्रोद्योगिक उद्योग का गढ़ बंगलोर शहर है।

यह हिन्दुस्तान के सिलिकॉन वैली के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है और इसे " बाइट की टोकरी " के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।

भारत की प्रमुख आईटी कंपनिया बंगलोर शहर में स्थित हैं जेसे की इन्फोसिस, आईबीएम, विप्रो, ऑरेकल, एच.सी.ल टेक्नोलॉजी, असेन्चुयर, सिस्को सिस्टम, एच पी, डेल, इंटेल आदि।

जिनमें से बहुराष्ट्रीय कंपनियाँ इंटेल, असेन्चुयर, आईबीएम और टेक्सास इंस्ट्रूमेंट्स ने शहर में कई बड़ी बड़ी सुविधाएँ स्थापित कि है।

इन्फोसिस टेक्नोलॉजीज और विप्रो, भारत की सबसे बड़ी व महत्वपूर्ण कंपनिया है, जिनके शहर में अपने मुख्यालय है और बड़े सॉफ्टवेयर विकास और सेवाओं की सुविधा भी है।

यह भी कहा जाता है की 2008 की आर्थिक मंदी के पहले हर गली के नुक्कड़ पर एक आईटी कंपनी थी।

बंगलोर की आईटी कंपनियों में ख्याति शिक्षा व्यवस्था की गुणवता पर एक बहुत ही सकारात्मक प्रभाव है और जो भारत व विदेशो से छात्रो को आकर्षित कर रहा है।

बंगलूरु ‘ विज्ञान शहर या साइबर शहर ’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है जो भारत के सर्वश्रेष्ठ शिक्षण संस्थानो का घर है।

यहा उच्च शैक्षिक संस्थानों में विभिन्न विषयो में उच्च स्तर की शिक्षा प्रदान की जाती है जो उन्हे प्रतिस्पर्धी वातावरण में काम करने योग्य व सक्षम बनाती है।

यहा के प्रसिद्ध संस्थान जेसे भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान (आईआईएससी), भारतीय खगोल भौतिकी संस्थान (आईआईए), भारतीय प्रबंधन संस्थान ( आईआईएम बी ) संस्थान आदि अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर के हैं।

ये संस्थान छात्रों को किताबी ज्ञान के अलावा उनके बौद्धिक स्तर विकसित करने को महत्व देता है।

Bangalore is also known as the "Science City" or "Cyber City" of India which is home to India's best educational institutions.
