Refranes de Primavera
¡Hola!
Marzo ventoso y Abril lluvioso hacen a Mayo florido y hermoso.

Hello! How is everything going? We are now in spring, realizing that days are longer, and wishing for summer to come so we can go out to sidewalk cafés at night.
I’m going to explain some proverbs today that are about spring weather. Let’s go to the first one, which is the best known:
Windy March and rainy April make May flowery and beautiful.
This proverb explains how spring is here: wind in March, rain in April and flowers in May. And the proverb has been fulfilled this year, because March and April have had corresponding weather (despite the climate change).
Another proverb that is extensively used is “In April thousands of waters,” and as you will surely realize, it insists on the idea of plentiful rain in April.
Finally, one proverb I especially like: “Don't take off your smock until May fortieth." I think we need to explain this. A smock is a long dress, and in this example it pertains to the idea of warm clothes. Additionally, May doesn’t have forty days (obviously!), so it’s referring to early June. With all of this, we can interpret that the proverb is warning us to wear our warm clothes until early June, 'cause the weather could get chilly again.
Did you like them? Cheers for all of you, and until next time!
