Ziua Sfântului Andrei este celebrată pe 30 noiembrie.

Este o sărbătoare legală în România, ceea ce înseamnă că marea majoritate a oamenilor au liber de la serviciu sau de la școală, iar băncile, birourile guvernamentale și marea majoritate a întreprinderilor private sunt închise.

Sfântul Andrei a fost fratele Sfântului Petru și primul discipol pe care Iisus l-a chemat.

El este, de asemenea, sfântul ocrotitor al României, așadar, el este centrul atenției în cadrul unei mari sărbători.

Există multe superstiții legate de Ajunul Sfântului Andrei în România.

Unii oameni îl invocă pe Sfântul Andrei să-i împiedice pe lupi să îi atace, pentru că se spune că lupii pot devora orice animal vor în Ajunul Sfântului Andrei și că, de asemenea, ei vorbesc cu oamenii.

St. Andrew's Day is observed on November 30.

It's a public holiday in Romania, which means most people are off work or school as banks, government offices, and many private businesses are closed.

St. Andrew was St. Peter's brother and the first disciple Jesus called.

He is also Romania's patron saint, so he is the cynosure of a major holiday.

There are many superstitions associated with St. Andrew's Eve in Romania.

For example, some believe that those who work on the holiday will have an inauspicious year.

Also there are several premonitory superstitions dealing with girls finding their future husbands.

Many young women place 41 wheat grains under their pillow at bedtime, and if they have a dream overnight that there's someone on their way to pilfer the grains, then it supposedly means they will be married the next year.

In some cases, young women put a sweet basil branch under their pillow instead of grains, and once again if they dream that someone is going to abscond with the branch, it means they will get married soon.

In some areas of Romania, young women light an Easter candle and take it to a fountain at midnight.

Then they solicit St. Andrew to ask him to let them descry the man they will marry.

Also, some people invoke St. Andrew to deter wolves from attacking them because it's said that wolves can gobble down any kind of animal they want to on St. Andrew's Eve and also speak to humans.

However, it's also said that any person who hears a wolf talk to him will die.
