ภาพยนตร์ชุดเรื่อง “บุญชู” เป็นภาพยนตร์ที่กำกับการแสดง โดย บัณฑิต ฤทธิ์ถกล นำแสดงโดย สันติสุข พรหมศิริ จินตหรา สุขพัฒน์ และซูโม่สำอาง

“บุญชู” ออกฉายครั้งแรกในปี พ.ศ. 2531 และมีภาคต่อๆ มาจนถึงภาค 10 ที่เพิ่งออกฉายในปี พ.ศ. 2553 ภาพยนตร์ เรื่องนี้เป็นเรื่องราวของหนุ่มชาวสุพรรณบุรีแสนซื่อที่ชื่อบุญชู ที่เดินทางเข้ามาในกรุงเทพฯ เพื่อเรียนในมหาวิทยาลัย เขาได้ พบเพื่อนๆ และโมลีผู้หญิงที่เขารัก เมื่อบุญชูเรียนจบเขาก็แต่งงานกับโมลีและไปอาศัยอยู่ที่สุพรรณบุรี บุญชูกับโมลีมีลูกหนึ่ง คนชื่อบุญโชค เมื่อบุญโชคโตขึ้นเขาก็เดินทางมายังกรุงเทพฯ เพื่อสอบคัดเลือกเข้ามหาวิทยาลัย สุดท้ายบุญโชคได้เข้า เรียนที่มหาวิทยาลัยในเชียงรายและได้พบกับคนที่เขารัก

บุญชู ภาค 1 ได้รับความนิยมมากเพราะมีเนื้อเรื่องที่แตกต่าง จากภาพยนตร์ตลกแบบโรแมนติกเรื่องอื่นๆในสมัยนั้น กลุ่มซูโม่สำอางกลายเป็นกลุ่มตลกที่มีชื่อเสียงในการสร้างมุกที่ สร้างสรรค์ ตัวละครบุญชูเองก็กลายเป็นต้นแบบของเด็กหนุ่มต่าง จังหวัดซื่อๆ ที่มากรุงเทพฯ เพื่อมาศึกษาเล่าเรียน และหวังว่าจะได้เจอประสบการณ์ดีๆ แบบบุญชูบ้าง นอกจากนี้ ยังมีประโยคที่ติดปากวัยรุ่นสมัยนั้นคือ "ไม่ใช่ก็ใกล้เคียง" และ "ระวังน้ำตาจะเช็ดหัวเข่า"

ภาคต่อๆ มาของเรื่องบุญชูก็มีเค้าโครงเหมือนกับภาคแรกคือ มีความซื่อและความรักของบุญชูรวมถึงเอกลักษณ์ของเพื่อนๆ ของบุญชูแต่ละคนเป็นโครงเรื่องหลักแต่รายละเอียดของ ความวุ่นวายและความโกลาหลของเพื่อนๆ ของบุญชูในแต่ละ ภาคจะแตกต่างกัน

ภาพยนตร์เรื่อง “บุญชู” นี้ได้รับรางวัลมากมายเช่น รางวัล พระราชทานพระสุรัสวดี เมื่อปีพ.ศ. 2531 สาขาภาพยนตร์ ยอดนิยม ปี พ.ศ. 2532 รางวัลพระราชทานพระสุรัสวดี สา ขาเพลงประกอบภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม และ ภาพยนตร์ยอด เยี่ยม และในปีพ.ศ. 2533 รางวัลพระราชทานพระสุรัสวดี สาขาภาพยนตร์ยอดเยึ่ยม และ ผู้แสดงประกอบชายยอด เยี่ยม (สุเทพ ประยูรพิทักษ์)

"Boonchoo" Parts One to Ten

The movie series "Boonchoo" is directed by Bhandit Rittakol and stars Santisuk Promsiri, Jintara Sukkapat, and Sumo Samang.

"Boonchoo" was first released in 1988 and had had continuous stories until Part Ten, which was recently released in 2010. This series is a story about Boonchoo, a simple Suphanburi man who comes to Bangkok to study at a university. He meets many friends and Molee, a woman he loves. When Boonchoo graduates, he is married to Molee. They both live in Suphanburi. Boonchoo and Molee have a son, Boonchoke. When Boonchoke grows up, he comes to Bangkok to take an entrance exam. Finally, he passes the exam and studies at a university in Chiang Rai and finds his love.

"Boonchoo Part One" was so successful because of a story line that is different from the other romantic comedy movies at that time. The Sumo Samang group became famous from making creative jokes. Also, the character, Boonchoo, became the model of a young, innocent country man who comes to Bangkok to study and hopefully to get good experience just like Boonchoo. Moreover, there are two catchy phrases- "close enough" and "You will wipe tears on your knees."

Other parts of the "Boonchoo" series have a similar story line to the first one, in which it is the innocence and relationship of Boonchoo and his friends' characteristics that are the main story line. However, the details of craziness and chaos from his friends in each movie are different.

"Boonchoo" has received many awards, such as the Pra Suratsawadee Award for Best Movie in 1988; in 1989, the Pra Suratsawadee Awards for Best Soundtrack and Best Movie; and in 1990, the Pra Suratsawadee Awards for Best Movie and Supporting Actor (Suthep Prayoonpitak).
