This week we are...
- Talking weddings! Bam bam be bam...
- Travelling first class to London for meetings and feeling like VIPs
- Watching "Naked Attraction" despite our better judgement
- Waiting impatiently for the inevitable Black Friday fight clips circling the internet
One issue that we discussed in our podcast this week is the expense of wedding gifts. For those of you who are struggling to stretch yourselves, we've put together some gift ideas. Remember- you've been invited because they want you there, not your gift!
- Tokens for your services: dog sitting, hedge trimming, put your skills to use!
- A lovely picture frame for them to remember their special day. Places like Tkmaxx always have a bargain.
- An IOU to make them a meal and hear all about their honeymoon.
- Make something- knit a blanket, paint a painting, make them a hjs and hers cushion and they'll have something to remember you and their wedding forever.
- Make a date kit: cinema vouchers, popcorn, chocolates.
- Buy them a scrapbook with materials to put it together with their honeymoon memorabilia.
For our Wedding Special this week, we have been chatting to Heather from online vintage wedding boutique: www.honeybomb.co.uk . Heather is most certainly the authority on dressing to impress for your big day, and gave us the following tips:
1) Pick a style that suits your figure, rather than choosing something that would look good on the 'perfect' you in your head. You'll only end up worrying about losing weight or trying to find underwear that sucks you in or pushes your boobs up etc. Every size, shape, height is catered for in bridal shops so just go with something flattering and comfortable, as you'll be wearing it for the whole day.
2) Don't spend more than you can afford, work out your budget and stick to it like glue (don't let over zealous shop assistants try to tempt you - just try on the dresses in your price range).
3) Try loads on (even styles you don't think you like as you could be surprised what suits you)
4) Enjoy the experience, take your mum & mates along and make a day of it, most places offer free fizz :)
5) If you can't find exactly what you're looking for, go to a good dressmaker as it'll be a fraction of the cost and a one off.
6) Try not to go with what's in fashion as it'll soon look dated, try a more classic style and your photos will look fabulous for years!
7) Book your appointments as far in advance as possible as particularly weekends can get booked up quickly.
8) Wear decent underwear - a nude strapless bra and standard nude knickers if you can as they will go with most styles.
9) Consider vintage as you can get a bargain and it'll be totally unique!
