What If a Goal Were More Like a Vision? | Season One | Ep 3 of 5
An orientation on creating a living relationship with our visions
This is the audio edition of the third essay in Season One of The Observatory, a five-part series about dreaming again, becoming the woman you can see from here, and building a life that can support her.
In this orientation, we reconsider not only what we’ve been taught about goals, but the relationship we have with the things we choose to create.
I share the idea of the JUICY Goal, something that has shaped the way I consciously create my own life for years, and return to the story of the dream beach house I once imagined, built, loved...and twelve years later, chose to sell.
What happens when the dream comes true, but the woman who dreamed it continues to become?
Perhaps a vision doesn’t need to be a contract with our future. Perhaps we can live in relationship with it, allowing it to guide and change us while remaining present enough to notice when the vision, or the woman living toward it, has changed.
Sometimes we get exactly what we imagined.
Sometimes the vision changes.
Sometimes we change.
And sometimes becoming asks us to release something we once worked very hard to create.
Which eventually brings another question into focus:
Who are you being there?
