While at Colgate he participated was a member of football team and acted as representative for Colgate at the Model Organization of African Unity (now called the African Union).

German is also well known for his passion and capacity to leverage the Power of Art to affect change in the lives of those to be in the greatest need of support. He lead the Puerto Rico Hope mural campaign, raising awareness about the ongoing struggles for survival in Puerto Rico, via the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, and mobilized Muralists during Art Basel 2017 to paint a massive collection of murals and raise funds to support relief efforts.

Alvin, Colgate's Hip Hop pioneer, is the co-author of the novel, Tourist in Your Own Town and entrepreneur and non-profit leader in Atlanta, Georgia. In acknowledgement of his record of meritorious service, he has received the Maroon Citation from Colgate and also serves on the Alumni Council.

Diane Ciccone’s legacy of firsts at Colgate include in the first graduating class of women, founding member of the Alumni of Color, first Black woman to serve on the Alumni Council and Board of Trustees, recipient of both the Maroon citation and Wm. Brian Little Award of Alumni Award for Distinguished Service to Colgate.
