January 15, 2020My Cowboys T-Shirt Earned Me Some WavesI was out and about earlier today and the strangest thing happened: People waved at me. I know, on the surface this probably doesn't seem all that strange considering we live in Texas and have southern hospitality, but it's never happened in the time I lived here. And then BOOM twice in one day! I was trying to think about why people would be waving at me. I was on my way to the gym so I had no makeup on, hair was up looking a mess. But then it hit me: I was wearing my one and only Dallas Cowboys shirt. My producer Josh and I took a trip down memory lane to revisit my criticism of the Cowboys, but heck if this is the reaction I'm going to get on a regular basis, I may have to go out grab some more Cowboys gear!...more4minPlay
January 13, 2020The Secret to Getting Through That To-Do ListExperts have recommended something to help us get through our daily To-Do Lists and I am surprised!I don't know how you tackle that list, for me, it's the easy stuff first. I love getting the momentum going of crossing off those menial tasks. But the experts say this may actually be the wrong way of going about it and we may be hurting ourselves in the process. When I read the explanation, it made a lot of sense. The experts say when we're knocking out those easy tasks early, we're kind of shortcutting ourselves out of learning the process and seeing growth through that accomplishment. So the next time you've got that To-Do List that needs checking off, mix some tough stuff in with those easy tasks. You'll thank yourself later!...more2minPlay

January 13, 2020A Beautiful Truth Behind an Ugly LieWe hear a lot about fake news and sometimes there are these headlines that aren't anywhere in media, but in our minds. Maybe one of those lies you've told yourself is "If I'm not happy, then God must not love me." Have you ever told yourself this? Here's the thing: God does not promise us happiness. Nowhere in scripture does it talk about rainbows and sunshine happily ever after. But Paul does have something to say about rejoicing through our suffering because our suffering today can't even compare to the majesty that awaits us in our eternity with God. There is some beautiful truth behind that ugly lie....more2minPlay
January 09, 2020Cardboard Beds for the Upcoming OlympicsBy now, you must know I am a HUGE fan of anything Olympics related and you can only imagine how excited I am that the Olympics are coming this summer! But there's some news that has me intrigued. The Olympic committee in Tokyo, Japan just revealed the beds that athletes will be sleeping on in Olympic Village will be made out of cardboard! Also, the mattresses will be made out of plastic for sustainability purposes after the Olympics wrap up. From an environmental standpoint, I can totally get behind this but is this the best thing for these world-class athletes? Would love to know your thoughts!...more3minPlay

January 08, 2020Afternoons with Lauree Prayer UpdateThank you to everyone who has been sending texts through the KCBI App and calling the station regarding a prayer request I shared with you 2 days ago. This was a request I brought to you on behalf of a friend of mine who had it put on her heart and her husband's heart to adopt again. After lots of prayers, they believed that the Lord was opening the door for an opportunity to do so. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, that opportunity was taken away. Though it breaks my heart to give you an update that we were all praying against, I need to remind myself in circumstances like this of the fact that God is God. God is love and God still loves this young woman. Again, thank you to each of you who have reached out and offered your prayers and I know you will continue praying for everyone in this situation....more3minPlay
