One small choice can change the universe! As the Watcher watches on, Agent Peggy Carter decides not to watch from the observation booth at the creation of America’s first super soldier but to stay close to Steve Rogers as he undergoes Erskine’s procedure.

But an attack from a Hydra agent to steal the super serum leaves Steve shot and wounded. To save the project from failure Peggy steps into the chamber to become Britain’s first super soldier, Captain Carter!

With the Red Skull terrorising Europe, he steals the tesseract that he plans to use to supplant the Third Reich with Hydra and its champion from another dimension. Captain Carter and the 107th division with Bucky Barnes are on it as they hunt him down with the help of the “Hydra Stomper”, created by Howard Stark with tesseract technology and with Steve Rogers at the helm.

But on a narrow mountain train track deep in enemy territory the plan to capture the Red Skull goes badly wrong and Steve Rogers is taken prisoner. At the Red Skull’s lair he calls on his interdimensional creature using the recovered tesseract.

With the world on a knife edge, Captain Carter and the 107th, rescue Steve and Peggy fights for the survival of her world pushing the tentacled creature back through the portal but is lost to its dimension. Steve and Peggy don’t get their dance.

Seventy years later at a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility a new portal opens up. As chopped tentacles fly out Nick Fury and Clint Barton welcome Captain Carter back into her world.

With the Zero Matter released from Dr Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), returning him to a solid state, so it is reunited with Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett) who intends on reopening the rift to expose earth to the all-consuming parasitic substance. To combat Frost’s plans that will destroy earth as we know it, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) must assemble a team to eliminate Zero Matter for good.

So she turns to the three egos of Wilkes, Dr. Samberley (Matt Braunger) and Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) who like any self-respecting geniuses stand on the shoulders of giants to use Frost’s work on the fissure to construct the “Shears of God” aka the rift generator. Along with Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray), Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) and Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) the group open up a rift drawing Frost into their trap that leads to Frost’s capture and release of her Zero Matter back in to the void. As Peggy and Thompson get ready to head back to New York, both for very different reasons, find themselves staying longer than anticipated!

Stranded in the desert, Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) and Dr Samberley (Matt Braunger) are forced to trust Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) to get themselves back to the SSR alive and prevent Vernon’s thugs from sending them to an early shallow grave. Also in the desert and still unconscious Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) grapples with “What she’s gonna do” as her mind wanders between her thought on Dr Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin) and Chief Daniel Sousa. However, as she revives in the back of one of Joseph Manfredi’s (Ken Marino) trucks her and Jarvis (James D’Arcy) escape and Peggy is resolved to save Dr. Wilkes from Whitney Frost’s new laboratory and her scheme to extract the Zero Matter from Wilke’s body.

Back at the SSR and against her better judgement, Peggy must form an unlikely partnership with Vernon Masters as Thompson has convinced Masters (Kurtwood Smith) and Peggy to work together using the gamma cannon against Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett) in order to restore order and save Wilkes. However, Jack Thompson wants more and makes a surprising move that could destroy them all, just as Wilkes begins to fracture as he loses control of the Zero Matter contained within him.

An anxious Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) is soon put at ease as his wife Ana (Lotte Verbeek) survives surgery and begins to recover from her gunshot wound. However, Jarvis’ relief soon turns to anger and vengeance as the Doctors inform him that Ana can no longer have children as a result of her injuries. This puts Jarvis on a collision course with Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett) as Peggy (Hayley Atwell) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) propose a trade with Frost – the Uranium rods stolen from Roxxon for Dr Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin). As the exchange goes down little do both sides know that all is not what it seems.

Agent Carter hands over fake radioactive rods, so Whitney gives the SSR a changed Jason Wilkes who has now accepted the importance of Zero Matter to his life and corporeal state. As Sousa reveals the location of the real uranium to Wilkes the race begins to stop Whitney Frost from opening the rift. At the Isodyne Energy test site, and with some help from Howard Stark, Dr Aloysius Herbert Samberley (Matt Braunger) and a gamma cannon, Carter and Sousa join Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) , along with a revenge-seeking Jarvis to stop the rift from taking Wilkes to the other side. However, as the rift closes spitting out Wilkes, the consequences of the fissure and the ramifications of Zero Matter all come to a head in the desert outside LA.

The murder of Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham) at the hands of Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett) is spun as just another lost at sea accident of the rich and famous in L.A. as Frost appears distraught, clothed in black and veiled. However, beneath her veil lies another reality as Joseph Manfredi (Ken Marino) is made her second in command and Vernon Masters (Kurtwood Smith) is tasked to to break Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan); but after many used vials of sodium pentothal, Masters is re-assigned and tasked to recover the uranium rods stolen by Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) from Roxxon as Frost interrogates Dottie herself using more effective methods of torture.

Elsewhere, as Frost uses her intel to hunt for even more dark powers, Peggy plots a rescue mission for Underwood as her necklace tracker reactivates hinting at a possible location and trap. Undeterred, Peggy, Jarvis (James D’Arcy) and the jitterbug infiltrate Manfredi’s compound to release Dottie and the trap is sprung, but it is sprung against Dr Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), who unguarded, is kidnapped at gun point from Howard Stark’s residence by Frost and Manfredi. In the ensuing escape and commotion a familiar friend is caught in the cross-fire and Dottie escapes once again in to the wind!

In an attempt to stabilise Wilkes, Peggy devises a desperate plan of her own and one that requires: tapping the only remaining source of Zero Matter, Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett); in one of the most dangerous locations for a woman in LA, the Arena Club; with the help and assistance from one of Peggy’s most unexpected adversaries (or is that her number one fan), Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan).

Dottie is broken out of prison by Carter to put the plan in to action at one of Chadwick’s campaign events and is paired with the indomitable Jeeves (I mean Jarvis). As the plan is put in to operation, another unexpected couple arrive at the event, Vernon Masters (Kurtwood Smith) and Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray), that further complicate events that has far reaching repercussions for both Dottie and Peggy. Meanwhile, an unusual Council meeting is taking place where Whitney Frost truly proclaims her power and demonstrates the deadly Zero Matter to both the Council and her ex-husband Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham).

Synopsis for Agent Carter S02E05 "The Atomic Job" Podcast

After Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin) adsorbs a small amount of Zero Matter from a sample of Jane Scotts body Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) races to find the body of the Lady in The Lake. Wilkes hopes to draw upon the Zero Matter that resides within the Lady of the Lake in the hope that it will restore him permanently to his physical self. After obtaining the security key from Hugh Jones (Ray Wise), Peggy and Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) arrive to see Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett) taking the Zero Matter for herself as she sets out to recreate the nuclear test in which the substance was formed.

However, for this she requires a bomb…an atomic bomb. However, a Magnificent Five (Peggy, Jarvis, Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj), receptionist Rose (Lesley Boone) and shy scientist Dr. Samberly(Matt Braunger)) set off from the SSR to the secret Roxxon facility, where the atomic weapons are held. They plan to disarm the bombs and prevent them falling in to the hands of Whitney and Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham). To get the mission done Jarvis’ souffle skills are put to the ultimate test and Peggy is dangerously wounded as she confronts a powerful Whitney Frost, In the aftermath at the Roxxon facility, Agent Carter is stitched up by Sousa’s new fiance – Violet (

In a series of flashbacks to the early lives of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) and Agnes Cully (aka Whitney Frost) we see two exceptional and talented women reflected back at one another: Both driven, both out of their time and both know their value! On the one hand Agnes Cully (Wynn Everett), from Oklahoma – brilliant with an inventive mind and who feels held back from academic success due to her gender that is until the Hollywood door is opened with use of her good looks and charm; and on the other hand, Peggy Carter, from Hampstead in England, who forges a career in the field with the Special Operations Executive (S.O.E) in spite of a stifling fiance Fred Wells (Kevin Changaris) and the tragic death of her much loved brother Michael Carter (Max Brown).

Meanwhile back in 1947, Whitney Frost begins to experiment with her new found power as Carter and Jarvis (James D’Arcy) attempt to learn more about Frost and Chadwick (Currie Graham) by kidnapping their bodyguard – Mr Hunt (Chris Browning). Following the interrogation of Hunt, he is bugged and allowed to escape where they track him back to Senator Chadwick’s apartment. As he attempts to blackmail Chadwick in exchange for protection Frost reveals her dangerous secret, and proves once and for all that she is more than just a pretty face.

The fallout from events at Isodyne Energy has everyone, including Chief Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) called from the New York SSR office, scrambling to spin the news of the explosion as an act of sabotage by the Russian Spy – Dr Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin). But Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is experiencing her own fallout as she blames herself for the death of Dr Wilkes and refutes the Wilkes-Russian spy theory as patsy talk that places her on a collision course with her superiors and Chief Thompson.

However, this does not deter Peggy as she, along with Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), enlists the help of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) in pursuit of the truth about Dr Wilkes, Zero Matter, the Arena Club and Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett). As Peggy and Jarvis infiltrate the Arena club to find out more information, weird events and strange goings on bring a pleasant surprise for Peggy who can now focus her investigation on Whitney Frost. However, as Whitney Frost senses Peggy and the SSR closing in she focuses the Arena Club’s resources against Peggy just as she starts to find and focus her own new found energies on those around her to devastating effect.

Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) still holds suspicions about Isodyne Energy as she meets with Dr Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin) to help with her investigation. He is initially hesitant to turn on his employer but is eventually persuaded to inform on Isodyne; as he reveals that in an attempt to replicate the Manhattan Project Isodyne had discovered a strange new phenomenon and in doing so had also discovered Zero Matter. Unknown to the SSR Chadwick (Currie Graham) is called to meet with the secretive Council, who shut down Isodyne Energy due to its seeming lack of results, and want him to focus on his political ambitions. However, just as Isodyne is being closed down by the Council the SSR move on the company as Peggy and Wilkes try to confiscate the new substance in Isodyne’s basement. But little do they know that another, Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett), also has designs on this new Zero Matter.
