  • Our Words: Do They Inspire or Deflate?

    I never… track my steps.

    I wish… I could lose my belly.

    I should… workout today.

Or fill in the blank with any aspiration because no matter what it is… it falls flat.

It doesn’t inspire. It doesn’t move you to take instant action. It doesn’t make you want to get up and go for it!

So why do we say these things so often?

Today’s “quick bite” is about how we unknowingly allow these words to slip into our conversations without realizing the effect they’re having on our brains. Our subconscious is always listening and wiring and firing so it’s in our best interest to start paying attention!

If you need a fitness reboot and don’t know where to begin, I’m here to help you figure out exactly what you can do to start feeling more fit and active as soon as you’re ready! Don’t let me hear you say “I wish I could lose 10 pounds” but “I’m ready to lose weight and feel good about myself NOW!”

Find me at www.amcostanzo.com and let me help you create a more active lifestyle! ❤️

  • "I love being more toned at 65"

“You’re awesome!” he shouted down to her as she was getting in her morning workout!

How amazing is that—to have your husband supporting you and cheering you on, and all you’re doing is what you’ve been doing for the last three years… working out for 15 minutes in the morning. 🫶

Today I’m interviewing my client and friend who at the age of 62 decided it was time to do something different. Her level of commitment and discipline has kept her active well into her 60s—and she doesn’t plan to slow down one bit.

She loves being toned and feeling good about herself and no longer avoids going sleeveless. In fact, she loves it!

Tune in and discover how she now looks forward to working out, and how she plans ahead when going on vacation!

If you’re ready to stop letting age define you and are ready to start aging fiercely, subscribe to my podcast on Apple, Spotify, or Substack. Because this journey? It’s only just beginning.

  • Lift Something Heavy... And Bring It to Me

What do you think of when I say to you, “I want to age fiercely?”

What kind of thoughts and words bubble up to the surface?

    * It’s building muscle when all you’ve been told is you lose muscle as you age.

    * It’s being over 50 and thinking, “I’m ready to start training for that triathlon now!”

    * It’s knowing food cannot solve your problems.

    * It’s refusing to get caught up in the busyness of life.

    * It’s pushing through the limits YOU set.

These are just a few. In today’s episode of my newly renamed podcast, Aging Fiercely (!), I discuss what it means to do just that! There’s an entire world beyond 40 and if you’re ready to age fiercely, get ready for a wild ride!

If you’re ready to stop letting age define you and start aging fiercely, subscribe to my podcast on Apple, Spotify, or Substack. Because this journey? It’s only just getting started.

  • If You Insist on Aging, You May as Well Do It as Fiercely as Possible

Here’s a banger for you: we don’t have to believe the hype that getting older means losing strength, power, or stamina. 👊

Life over 40 doesn’t mean we have to sit on the sidelines of life and watch Junior Jr. run his little tushy off on the soccer field while we wonder if the sunlight is catching any chin hairs in just the right light.

And it sure as heck-fire doesn’t mean we have to hang the libido up to dry!

Somewhere along the way, someone started a nasty little rumor that turning 40+ meant signing up for aches, pains, and a permanent spot on the sidelines. Well, guess what? They’re wrong. Dead wrong. ☠️

I’ve recently renamed my podcast to Aging Fiercely and here’s why: Aging fiercely is all about choosing to live boldly while shaking up the narrative that aging = slowing down. Life doesn’t stop after 40—far from it. We get to flip that script, toss out the scale obsession, and trade in the “beach-ready body” for a body that can climb mountains and feel unstoppable while doing it.

The truth is, fitness after 40 is the key to living a richer, more adventurous life. It’s not about checking off workouts like some chore—it’s about fueling the fun and keeping that fire in your soul burning bright.

It’s also about churning up the mindset. We’ve GOT to tighten that ship up because the societal view on aging… sucks! Good thing is, we no longer have to buy into it. We can change the narrative—collectively and individually—by changing our thoughts. This is the fun part and a lot of what I’ll be talking about on the podcast! (Along with interviews from babes who are putting a new twist on how they work out and why!)

This is an opportunity for us all to rewrite the script on how we want to age!

So, if you’re ready to stop letting age define you and start aging fiercely, subscribe to my podcast on Apple, Spotify, or Substack. Because this journey? It’s only just getting started.

Till next week, stay well my fierce friend! 🔥

  • She gave up trying to be the “perfect mom” and that's when she started to regain control of her life

“I think being able to take control of one tiny thing that I was doing for myself gave me the desire to do the things that I love again.”

Welcome to Mindful Mama Diaries ❤️, where we dive into the real stories of moms breaking the fitness mold and finding joy in movement. If you're new here, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect! (Hint: it involves moms taking back their time, shedding their grandiose cloaks of guilt, and mindfully taking control of their mental health.)

Today’s guest is the wonderful Deb Gardner, a lifelong friend and seasoned stay-at-home mom of 18 years. With one child heading off to college and another entering 10th grade, Deb’s world is shifting in big ways. She’s ready to reclaim her time, step out of the 'on-demand mom' role she’s known for so long, and rediscover what truly lights her up. Journaling and daily affirmations have been her guiding lights on this path.

It all started when she realized how overwhelming the teenage years had become, and the countless roles she was juggling. Deb knew it was time to shift her focus back to herself and let go of the quest to be 'the perfect mom.'

Interviewing moms to find out how they’re rediscovering themselves—and getting fit—without all the drama!

  • Why starting a fitness routine is so damn hard

If you’re a rule follower like me, you’re probably well-acquainted with the 150-minutes-a-week exercise mandate and the FDA-approved food pyramid (or plate, or whatever shape it’s in now). These guidelines, seemingly crafted in some stuffy government office—think citrine green walls, black-and-white tiled floors, and a filing cabinet filled with boring memos—don't exactly scream excitement. No wonder only one in five adults are hitting their exercise goals. ONE IN FIVE! I think we can do better than that.

But let's be real—it’s tough to get started.

If you’re nodding along, let me share a little secret: it’s not as hard as it seems when you know what’s really going on. Join me as I break down the top 3 reasons why starting a fitness routine feels like such a challenge—followed by my quick, no-nonsense solution!

If fitness is your jam but getting started feels like a struggle, you’ll want to sign up for this newsletter and tune into my podcast, Mindfully Yours, where I dive into mindset, fitness, and tips to help make it all run a little smoother! Follow along at amcostanzo.substack.com

  • I built this body so I could experience THAT!

Think not of how many pounds you wish to shed but of the heights you will conquer as you embark on your family beach vacation this year. When once upon a time you couldn’t bear to think of the 137 steep steps you’d have to climb to the top of the lighthouse—this year you’ll finally make your way to the top without feeling like a Victorian maiden encased in a corset, unable to breathe. No dramatics this year, no huffing and puffing, no holding up the line of eager tourists hot on your tail to get that perfect shot as the sun melts into the ocean. This year you will be victorious because this year you figured out how fitness really works!

This year you’ve declared to all, “I fine-tuned this body so I could do THAT!”

Life is way more about experiences than little numbers on a metal plate we stand upon to chastise ourselves.

That’s why today I’m talking about how to reframe fitness so it never feels like we have to look a certain way but instead how we can experience things we’ve never experienced before in a way we’ve never felt before!

I have a new series called Mindful Mama Diaries ❤️. With bi-weekly interviews, I’m learning how other mamas are figuring out how to personalize their fitness in a way that works with their schedules and personalities. These mamas are tuning into what it means to be mindfully fit, and are pursuing the benefits of a well-lived, healthy life! Sign up, listen in, and walk away with new insights on how to find freedom in fitness!

And if you’ve got a success story—or a massive face-plant story—email me at [email protected] and let’s share!

  • She Lost 20 lbs in Two Months

    “I hate the gym!”

And with that, we’re underway! Welcome to the first installment of my new podcast and interview series called Mindful Mama Diaries ❤️

If you’re new here and not sure what’s going on… here’s a quick rundown of what to expect while here! (Hint: it has something to do with moms who… hate the gym—are sick of hearing ye stale old advice of “eat right and exercise more”—are done feeling the heavy cloak of dread descend upon them as soon as they step one tiny toe on the treadmill!)

My first dope-sauce mama to enter the grand Mindful Mama Diaries ❤️ stage is Jill Rogovic—an elementary school teacher and proud mama of two kids, one in college and the other on his way. As she faces the prospect of an empty nest, she’s experiencing a mix of emotions and a touch of uncertainty.

Beyond her role as a mom and teacher, Jill is also a fellow athlete. We shared the volleyball court in high school and even played a year together in college. Our friendship dates back to the 4th grade, and I couldn’t be prouder to introduce her as the first guest of the Mindful Mama Diaries ❤️.

Her story begins with the pandemic and a photo that had her asking, who ‘dat??? (It was her at her daughter’s prom!) These two events sparked a period of introspection and transformation for Jill that led to her losing more than 20 lbs—without it being hard-fought!

Here’s her story about how she started taking care of herself in a way that worked perfectly for her!

Personalizing fitness to match your personality — that’s what we’re talking about here! Learn how others are doing it by subscribing!
