  • Episode 121--Ahh! Trilogy Throwdown: Final Destination

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis as we continue our Trilogy Throwdown series with the first three Final Destination films. We take a look at the origins of this beloved franchise by reviewing and discussing the first three films and, most important, rating each and every kill of all three – let’s face it, we have to give the people what the want. How many overwrought similes can our hosts use to explain the name “Clear”? Does Ali Larter “serve c-word”? Is Devon Sawa in the same company as Skeet Ulrich? And is there anything worse than dying by tanning bed? Listen and find out!

  • Episode 120--Ahh! Scary Suburbia

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis as we discuss films set in the most haunting location of all....the suburbs! We discuss what makes the suburbs such a perfect setting for a horror movie (the term "liminal spaces" is used) before diving into to two very interesting examples of suburban horror!! We could have chosen literally a hundred movies (seriously there are so many horror films set in the suburbs!!) but we chose two oddly similar, sweaty movies!! Why are the suburbs so scary, specifically to Americans? What themes are common in suburban horror films? What would you do if you found a human ear lying in a field? Would it be scary if someone had their boobs and butt on the same side of their body? Listen and find out!

  • Episode 119--Ahh! Horror Movie Gimmicks

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis as we dive into a topic that is near and dear to the hearts of all horror fans – no, not our frankly upsetting love of gruesome deaths, but our love of gimmicks! We don’t often think about it, but fun gimmicks make up the backbone of some of our all time favs, and on this episode we discuss two more recent films that relied heavily on their gimmicks and to great effect. How would our intrepid hosts fare buried alive in a coffin? Will we ever look at a turkey baster the same ever again? Is a criminal in another country always a “terrorist”? Listen and find out the answers to these very important questions!

  • Episode 118--Ahh!Pocalypse

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis as we dive into Taylor's worst fear, the apocalypse (shout-out the Catholic church!!) We discuss the allure of apocalyptic films and the SEVERAL apocalyptic-esque  events we have lived through in our lifetime (shout-out COVID-19!!) We then discuss two absolute classics of the horror apocalypse genre...well, one more so than the other. Why do we love films about the world ending? How do apocalypse films change with the times? Why is it so hard to spell apocalypse and why did I write it so many times in this episode summary? Is it the end of the world as we know it and do we feel fine? Listen and find out!

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis because we discuss one of the scariest topics of all – friends! More specifically, movies about friendship and even more specifically, movies about shit friends – oh the horror! We discuss two stone cold classics that feature nightmare friendships (as well as a lot of teenage angst and anger) and discuss things such as: is Christian Slater the coolest mall goth ever? Does starring on the Little House on the Prairie automatically make you a prude? Is it common for a popular friend group to have a nerd friend that they all inexplicably love? And why are teens so insane in the 21st century? If you want to know the answer to these pressing, important questions, listen and find out the answer… if you dare!

  • Episode 116--Ahh! Triumphant Returns (Including Our Own!)

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis because we're baaaaaaaack and discussing films that marked a triumphant return to their respective franchises! That's right another franchise episode, who are we?? We discuss how modern(ish) takes can breathe new life into old franchises and how we can assess a film that may be a marked departure from its source material. What have we been up to during our hiatus? Can the seventh film in a franchise still be a good film? What's the difference between a reimagining and a squeakel? Will we ever figure our audio issues out (we will I promise)? Écoutez et découvrez!

  • Episode 115--Ahh!! Latin American Horror

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis as we dive back into some coverage of cinema around the world, specifically horror films in Latin America! In this episode, we cover films from Argentina and Guatemala and discuss what makes films from this region special and unique and what makes these two particular films great jumping off points for the region. We also reveal our own ignorance as we look at “best of” lists from the region – fun! How do two hosts from Florida navigate films with the exotic “Spanish language”? Is a ghost tale centered around a victimized woman misandrist? Y ¿Por qué Taylor no entiende español a pesar de vivir en Florida? ¡Escucha y descúbrelo!

Welcome ladies, germs, and people of all genders! Join Taylor & Curtis as we bring you our “hate watch” episode – yes, the two of us picked a movie we actively thought the other disliked and… hilarity ensued! LOL! We go into depth on the themes and subgenres these movies represent and whether the movie had its intended effect. Hell, we even have a discussion of our favorite superhero movies! So what kind of movies are our hosts repelled by? Do you think it can ever be tasteful to show a CGI baby in the womb? Where do we rank the great Johnny Depp on our greatest actors of all time list? Could this episode also been entitled “The Movies of 2007”? Listen and find out!
