  • AIC Stories 006 - AIC Original S105 - Movie Motivation - August Rush and Creed 2
EPISODE 005- Movie Motivation: August Rush and Creed 2

Movies often provide a massive dose of motivation and inspiration disguised as entertainment. The best examples share terrific lessons if we care to look a little deeper into the film. This episode I’ve got two excellent examples for you, August Rush and Creed 2.

    ----more----

    August Rush Trailer
    • From Warner Bros. : August Rush tells the story of a charismatic young Irish guitarist (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and a sheltered young cellist (Keri Russell) who have a chance encounter one magical night above New York's Washington Square, but are soon torn apart, leaving in their wake an infant, August Rush, orphaned by circumstance. Now performing on the streets of New York and cared for by a mysterious stranger (Robin Williams), August (Freddie Highmore) uses his remarkable musical talent to seek the parents from whom he was separated at birth.
    Creed II Trailer
    • From MGM : Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.
Cast: Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu, Andre Ward, Phylicia Rashad, Dolph Lundgren
    August Rush Quotable Moments:
    • "August Rush: [opening voice-over] Listen. Can you hear it? The music. I can hear it everywhere. In the wind... in the air... in the light. It's all around us. All you have to do is open yourself up. All you have to do... is listen." August Rush
  • "August Rush: [in voiceover] But I believe in music... The way that some people believe in fairy tales." August Rush
  • "You know what music is? God's little reminder that there's something else besides us in this universe, a harmonic connection between all living beings, every where, even the stars." Wizard from August Rush
  • "[Louis explaining not giving up music to August] You never quit on your music. No matter what happens. Cuz anytime something bad happens to you, that's the one place you can escape to and just let it go. I learned it the hard way. And anyway, look at me. Nothing bad's gonna happen. You gotta have a little faith." Louis Connelly from August Rush
  • Creed II Quotable Moments:
    • “If we don’t do what we love, then you wouldn’t exist.” Adonis Creed from Creed II
  • “I was afraid I couldn’t live up to these expectations.
  • You don’t think you got your validation?” Adonis Creed and Bianca from Creed II
  • “Round after round, you learn more about yourself. And when I stepped in that ring, it wasn’t all about me.” Adonis Creed from Creed II
  • “Are you having to prove something to other people or prove something to yourself?” Bianca to Adonis from Creed II
  • “What would I be afraid of.  I’m a fighter. This is what I do.” Adonis Creed from Creed II
  • “What’s the valuable stuff?  What are you really fighting for?” Rocky to Adonis from Creed II
  • “If you want to change t

  • AIC Stories 005 - AIC Original S104 - Breaking Out of a Creative Funk

That's right, we're going to tackle the elephant in the room. Creative funks. They absolutely suck and we've all been through them a time or two. I want to share with you the one thing that has worked time and time again to break me out of them on this week's Adventure!

    ----more----

    We've all been there!

Being a creative means that at some point or another you are going to hit a wall. You'll feel like you couldn't dream up a good idea if your life depended on it, maybe you'll feel like there is no point in even attempting to be creative at all. We all know the terrible feeling of being in a creative funk and how difficult it can seem to try to claw our way out of it.

    The secret is this!

It doesn't have to be some crazy difficult process. Sometimes it's a somewhat obvious solution that can help to jumpstart our creativity and leave the stream of ideas flowing once more! Of course, we are all different and so what works for one may not work for another so your mileage may vary. That being said, I would venture to guess that for a good number of creatives out there on this adventure, this strategy might just do the trick.

Thank you to the new reviews in Apple Podcasts 27slm & dakilen!

If you'd like to get a shout-out on the show, leave a note for me in Apple Podcasts, the links are below!
