ABOUT OUR GUEST:
Dr. Sandra Kahn is an accomplished orthodontist with a notable career spanning several decades. After over 20 years in private practice and treating approximately 7,000 clinical patients, Dr. Kahn transitioned from traditional orthodontics to airway-centered orthodontics. This approach emphasizes the harmony of the jaws and aims to guide the growth of the face and jaws in children, improving breathing and sleep health to prevent conditions like snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Her research includes the use of implants in orthopedic traction Bollard hooks, Biobloc Orthotropics therapy for treating dental and orthopedic decompensation in patients with cleft lip and palate, and the prevention of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea through Forwardontics combined with myopostural therapy. Together with Dr. Paul Ehrlich and their team at Stanford University, Dr. Kahn coined the term “Forwardontics” to promote protocols that support forward development of the facial middle and lower thirds. Dr. Kahn is a prolific author, having written several influential books. Her first book, “Let’s Face It – A Guide to Your Child’s Optimal Health, Facial, and Dental Development,” serves as a consultation guide for parents aiming to prevent pediatric respiratory problems. Her subsequent works, including “GOPex – Good Oral Posture Exercises,” “Jaws: The Story of a Hidden Epidemic” co-authored with Dr. Paul Ehrlich, and “Breathe 4.0: The Magic of Up-lock Breathing” co-authored with Dr. Wilfried Engelke, continue to make significant contributio

Welcome to the “Airway Answers: Expanding your Breath of Knowledge” with Nicole Goldfarb, M.A. CCC, SLP- COM®. In this episode of Airway Answers with Nicole Goldfarb, Nicole interviews Roger Price, who is a Respiratory Physiologist, Integrative Health Consultant, and internationally recognized as “The Man who connected Dentistry, Sleep and Breathing.”. In this episode, Roger goes into detail explaining all about a new program he developed and recently launched in Romania called International Institute for OrthoPostural Education (IIOPE). According to the WHO around 74% of deaths are as a result of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) and - barring genetics and trauma - ALL have their origin in compensations that we make in order to survive our environment. The role in IIOPE is to identify and correct these compensations right at the start - going back to conception and gestation - as well as birth and early childhood - and prevent the mild dysfunction from becoming symptomatic and then chronic. Learn all about this amazing program that should spread internationally. Roger also talks about the concept of Breathing-Disordered Sleep. Visit: https://iiope.org/hfg for more information.

ABOUT OUR GUEST
Roger Price’s career began in the mid 1950s in South Africa where he started his studies as a Pharmacist at Rhodes University. As a qualified Pharmacist with an Honours degree in Physiology and Pharmacology, he then went on to qualify as a Clinical Nutritionist and Remedial Massage Therapist. He studied further in the behavioural and psychological aspects of ill health and soon moved away from mainstream medicine as he realised that it had nothing to do with health at all. More than 20 years ago he started to challenge the way that sleep disorders were being addressed and introduced the concept of Airway Management to the world of Dentistry. The name Roger Price is synonymous with Breathing Disordered Sleep - the prime reason that people are continuously tired, lack concentration, develop all kinds of chronic conditions and simply do not get better. After a 7 year Sabbatical in the United States, Europe, Canada, Ukraine, Russia, UAE, and having commenced, at the age of 79, a Masters in Applied Breathing Sciences, Roger returned to Sydney where he now consults for several Airway based practices.

Welcome to the "Airway Answers: Expanding your Breath of Knowledge" with Nicole Goldfarb, M.A. CCC, SLP- COM®. Learn all About Baby-Led Weaning and How It May Apply To Helping Grow The Jaws. In this conversation, Nicole Goldfarb interviews Katie Ferraro, a registered dietitian and expert in baby-led weaning. BLW is a safe and reliable alternative to conventional adult-led spoon feeding. It involves allowing babies to feed themselves from their first bites and introducing a wide variety of textured foods. BLW promotes jaw growth and development, which is crucial for airway health. It is recommended to start baby-led weaning at around six months of age, when babies can sit relatively independently. The process of baby-led weaning takes time and patience, but it offers numerous benefits for both babies and parents. This conversation explores the method of baby-led weaning and the transition to solid foods. It emphasizes the importance of sensory experience, proper feeding gear, and the gradual introduction of utensils. The conversation also addresses the challenges with sippy cups and the benefits of open cup drinking. It highlights the adaptability of baby-led weaning for special needs children and the role of registered dietitians in guiding parents through the process.
Takeaways
*Baby-led weaning is a gradual process that involves introducing solid foods and reducing milk feeds over time.
*Sensory experience and the use of appropriate feeding gear are crucial for a successful transition to solid foods.
*Open cup drinking is encouraged to promote oral motor development and reduce excessive milk consumption.
*The introduction of utensils should be gradual, starting with spoons and later incorporating forks.

In this episode, Dr. Mariana Evans discusses the importance of early expansion for children's jaw development and periodontal health. She explains the relationship between orthodontics and periodontal issues, emphasizing the need to address jaw deficiencies at a young age. Dr. Evans highlights the clinical indicators for jaw development issues and the controversy surrounding expansion techniques. She challenges the traditional practice of waiting for adult molars to expand and advocates for customized appliances and anchorage. Dr. Evans also addresses the question of how much expansion is necessary and the potential need for additional treatment in the future. This conversation discusses the need for expansion as children get older and the limitations of expansion based on age and facial growth. It also explores the duration of the expansion process and how to respond to orthodontists who are hesitant to expand at a young age. The conversation highlights the demand for orthodontic treatment and the challenges faced by orthodontists in treating younger children. It also discusses the role of pediatric dentists in treating younger children and the importance of a positive dental experience. The conversation covers the criteria for determining the need for expansion in young pediatric patients and the use of measurements and clinical indicators. It also addresses the use of dental age and tooth size for customized expansion. The conversation touches on the considerations for tonsillectomy in relation to expansion and the use of Invisalign during the expansion process. Dr. Evans shares her personal experience with Marpe expansion and explains the concept of the 4D dimension in expansion. The conversation concludes with a summary of the course and upcoming dates.
Takeaways
*Early expansion is crucial for optimal jaw development and periodontal health in children.
*Clinical indicators such as facial appearance and tooth positioning can help identify jaw deficiencies.
