In case you missed it, Eli joined us last time to discuss his experience as a Black Dad of two. What does that mean for kids who notice they're Black in the UK when most people aren't? How do you console to a child who no longer wants to be Black becasue they read a book at school that explained Black is scary? Answer those questions and more by listening to Episode 16 of Before Our Friends Die.

We had to get to know Eli a little more so enjoy this BONUS EPISODE where we ask him:

Who has the most potential that you know?

Who is the most influential person you know?

You are at your best when you are ______?

One thing you never regret doing?

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

What advice would you now give to you of 10 years ago?

It takes a village to raise a child, isn't that right? Today, we feature a fantastic guest Eli, from @mindfulblackdad on Instagram. He popped on our radar after we saw a viral clip of him discussing a book about colours at his Son's nursey. The book depicted Black as scary, mean, bad etc and it led his son to not want to be Black anymore. He knew he had to do something but was stuck on how to approach it.

This conversation is our most open and candid yet. At the time of writing, neither of us at the akhi&saltfish Digital Network are parents but we were curious to get Eli's views on being a parent of two boys and share our own reflections of our upbringing, including what we would bring with us from how we were parented and what we would leave behind.

A fascinating discussion that touches on all sorts including, should we even use the term "Black" to describe ourselves? How do you navigate The Royal Family? When do you address the elephant in the room on race? And so so much more.

Engage, comment, like, share and let us know your thoughts. We'd love to hear from you.

This week, at the start of Black History Month 2022 in the UK, we are joined by Sheban - a fantastic friend of the show who has been on somewhat of a journey!

If you're thinking of changing your career, or taking a leap into studying abroad, this podcast will give you the inspiration you need to make it happen.

In talking with us, Sheban shares some of the confidence challenges she faced visiting Hong Kong, China, Brazil and more.

She takes us through the trials of navigating the job market and needing that pesky "experience" while studying at univerisity!!

COVID being a growth period for her, where she was forced to think about what matters and what she wants.

Having insomnia led to her teaching herself how to code. Then came the school of code...

Listen to this podcast to learn more about the school of code and visit: https://www.schoolofcode.co.uk/

Sheban also recommends three books:

Learn Python the Hard Way by Zed Shaw

Automate the Boring Stuff by Al Sweigart

Python Crash Course by Eric Matthes

*PLEASE NOTE* Unfortunately, we had a few technical problems with Kahvan's sound during this episode but it is certainly still a great episode so please stick with it!

Who will win Canelo or GGG? It's the rematch of the rematch for the undisputed supermiddleweight world title and there's a lot on the line for the veteran in GGG and Canelo can't get two losses in a row, surely?

What is going on with AJ and Fury, will they? Won't they? Do we care?

Nate Diaz is free from the UFC but what do we think of UFC 279?

Did Eubank Sr pull his son out the figjht, should he? Is boxing while dehydrated safe? No. So why do most boxers do it? Money.

We discuss all of that and much more on the latest episode of SOFA SENSEI'S!!!

We really enjoyed this one so check it out, share, share again, watch the fight, let us know your thoughts and enjoy.
