How can civil protests reshape political practice? How can grassroots activism function without centralized leadership? And what role can universities play as spaces for democratic engagement?
In this panel discussion, student activists from Serbia reflect on their protests, organizational strategies, and the broader political implications of their work—offering first-hand insights into a movement that has mobilized across campuses and cities.
With:
Moderation: Tamara Cvetković – Institute for Culture Management and Gender Studies, mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
The event was part of the “Days of Attention — Student Protests in Serbia” at the University of Vienna.
The discussion was recorded on April 15, 2026, at the Depot – Kunst und Diskussion.
Together, they explore the strong community dimension at the heart of Art Meets Radical Openness and reflect on how digital technologies continue to shape artistic production, collaboration, and exchange. The conversation offers insights into the curatorial approaches behind this year’s festival and highlights how AMRO creates spaces for collective engagement across disciplines.
A special focus is placed on the 2026 program: What kinds of formats invite participation? How do artists respond to current technological and social conditions? And in what ways can digital tools foster not only innovation but also critical reflection?
From exhibitions and performances to the Nightline, this episode sheds light on the diverse practices and perspectives that define AMRO26. It reveals how the festival operates not just as an event, but as a living network shaped by its contributors and audiences alike.
This episode invites listeners to take a closer look at the intersections of community, technology, and artistic experimentation. And to discover how AMRO continues to evolve as a platform for radical openness.
