Welcome to week two. We are going to get into the emotions of the water phase. The primary out of balance emotion is fear. We need to have fear, it keeps us safe, it helps us have the adrenaline that we need to get ourselves out of life threatening situations. But when we become frozen in fear or it starts controlling our lives in some way, preventing us from living out our destiny, then it's become out of balance.
Here's a quote saying fear is a normal and adaptive human emotion, but when it becomes chronic and when the perceived cause of fear cannot be directly addressed, then this is likely to lead to disharmony. The organs most at risk are the kidneys. In cases of extreme fright, the kidney's ability to hold chi, vital energy, may be impaired, leading to involuntary frequent urination.
The kidneys where the adrenals are these Get taxed when there's fear. And if we're living in that chronically, then we might have some chronic adrenal fatigue as well. Fear can show up in many different ways. So it can show up as a phobia, panic, being timid or shy, nervous. Restlessness, a wired, anxious, effortful, striving, a hyper tolerance, meaning like Putting up with anything for fear of getting in trouble.
Spiritual laziness, indifference, non-op, opinionated scatteredness, fantasy, indecisiveness avoidance, distrust of intuition, insecurity and guilt. With the non-op, opinionated, it might be, you might be afraid to express your opinions. And with the effortful striving, you might be always trying to be worthy for fear of not being worthy of love, the job, friendship, whatever might be coming across for you.
Or you might just go into more of a freeze kind of aspect of fear and just have an indifference to everything. for fear of having feelings or emotions. Okay. Indecisiveness. All these things are because you're not in your own center and you don't feel safe in your own being.
Becoming emotionally fluent and being able to name the emotions. Out of all those things that were on the past page, Really being able to look at each one of them and seeing do any of them show up in any particular areas of your life, and this will be in the journal prompts. So that it helps you to start naming what's going on and start bringing into what might be the root cause.
Maybe there is an initial point that it started, or a time in our life. Acknowledging and listening to that aspect of ourselves and re-parenting, and re-patterning, re-patterning. For myself, I used to be very shy and so that became an area of a growth opportunity for me to do some work around that.
Actually, many of these things I've worked through and, we're never perfect. I'm sure sometimes some of them actually do still show up. When they do, it's an opportunity for me to see, okay, where do I have an opportunity to grow, to support myself, to shift something, to reparent and aspect of myself, maybe my 13 year old self is showing up or my seven year then just working with that aspect to yourself and bringing them into the current space and we get on into this and further weeks when we're willing to learn from our experiences and acknowledge what has been transformed inside of us.
Each experience brings us a transformation, it changes us in some way and when we can work with that and acknowledge that and see, okay, what worked, what didn't work, what were the results, what was the aftermath, and what would you do different and being able to zoom out a little bit and contemplate from different perspectives of your being.
Through this, you can embody and start to integrate the whole experience so that it becomes your wisdom. If you had a challenging situation, how did you move through it? How would you move through it differently? And how did you, that situation maybe force you to grow or nudge you to grow? And that is now in your wisdom bag.
The Emotions of fear. This is from a really wonderful book called the web that has no weaver understanding Chinese medicine. If you feel like some really amazing reading about Chinese medicine, you might want to pick that book up. The emotion of kidneys is fear and the virtue of kidneys spirit mind is wisdom.
Think of moments in your life when you experience fear from the unknown, but the experience was transformed into experience based wisdom. Wisdom develops over life as we live our experiences. The will is in the kidneys, and it's divided into the yin will and the yang will. The yin will is related to our destiny and our fate.
Which is our relationship with and journey into the unknown future. And it evolves trust and faith. The young will is more immediate than that. It has to do with the conscious efforts and fundamental decisions that allow your will for certain desires and outcomes to come to fruition. Isn't that beautiful?
We have a little bit of a fate or a destiny that we're moving towards. Whether we have trust or faith in that can nourish, whether that's a bumpy road to that destiny or not. Within that is our own consciousness our decisions and our efforts along that road that allows like our desires that are part of our.
Probably part of our soul journey to come through into fruition in a way that is aligned for our life path and our destiny. So from the first from week one, we were looking at the cycles and the metal element burst the water element. In the metal element, there's grief and sadness, and this can birth the fear.
If you're having a fear on something, look if there is like a grief or sadness behind it. And the control cycle is the earth element. And that is across the way from the water. Worry controls fear. Think about it, if you're afraid of something and you feed that fuel with worry, the fear is going to get bigger and bigger.
Maybe to control it, you want to have a grounded, realistic, is that true, looking at things a little more from a broader perspective.
When we are in fear, our Shen, which is stored in our heart is scattered it paralyzes our ability to act or think clearly it blocks us from our inner wisdom. This can come from past trauma or from not feeling strong or supported enough and courage, which holds the will and ability to act is stronger than our fears when we have courage and it can feel exciting and scary.
It requires us to have faith and trust and a strength in our intention. When the will is stronger than staying frozen or stuck. Sometimes it's worthwhile to ask ourselves, what is it costing me to stay here instead of doing that big scary thing? Then what little steps can I take towards making my nervous system feel comfortable to do that big scary step?
All wisdom in a lifetime adds up. This leaves less and less room for fear and more room for curiosity in how to apply your acquired wisdom. If we take the time to explore our experiences and do basically do a debriefing with ourselves, then we start to acquire the wisdom of these. Things start I know definitely at this age for myself, I have a lot less worry about how things are going to turn out than I did when I was in my 20s or as a teen.
I've been around enough times around the block to see, okay, everything always works out. It becomes less and less stressful.
This week's brief the practices for week two, go for a walk to the body of water that you decided to cultivate a relationship with pick up some snow or some dirt an...
