"That's why I started it [Color of Music Collective] because I think people are afraid to talk about these topics [POC and/or LGBTQ member of the music industry] because they don't know a lot about it. But that's kind of what our platform is for - it’s education, advocacy and used as a resource." Mia Van Allen, co-founder of Color Of Music Collective.
Color of Music Collective is an inclusive environment born in the USA where LGBTQ and POC voices are amplified in discussions regarding the music industry. They hold virtual panels featuring industry guests to discuss important issues within the industry and hold Q&A sessions at the end.
Alice Amel speaks with Color of Music Collective's co-founder Mia Van Allen & executive director Marcella Desharnais. We hear where Mia and Marcella's journey in the industry began, the purpose and inspirations behind of Color of Music Collective, the support and recognition received from the wider music industry and its rapid expansion, subjects covered on the panels and the incredible work of volunteers.
