Have you ever met/seen a transgender person and wondered what the word transgender even means exactly? What is the story behind the person? When did they first know that they were born into the wrong body? What kind of struggles do they have? How did their families and friends react to their change? What does a transition process looks & feels like? Does your sexual orientation change with your gender change? How and who do transgender people date? Or just simply how to address this issue and how to even have a proper conversation with them without accidentally offending anyone?
You will find your answers to these questions and more in today’s episode as the very beautiful, intelligent, open, honest, and lovely Gina talks about her life, her struggles and her victories. She is a very young, Korean, gorgeous woman who happened to be born into a male body and I had the privilege to ask her any questions I wanted and she answered all of them in an informative, articulate, and rather eye-opening way.
Please listen to this episode and share it with others as well, so that the world would realize that we, indeed, are all the same inside, even if our outsides look completely different. Underneath it all, we are all humans, people with good and bad days, struggles and happy moments and we are all just trying to figure out ourselves and the world around us.
I believe the more we know about each other’s stories, the more compassionate, accepting and loving we will become towards each other and that’s a good enough reason to share our unique and individual stories.
Happy listening! ❤

Have you heard about Eritrea?
Yeah, me neither… not until I met Hermon. Hermon introduced me to this very young, beautiful, yet very brutal country in Africa.
Listen to my interview with Hermon as he explains why Eritrea is called the “North Korea of Africa” and how scared he was while he managed to escape from a country that has a “shoot to kill” policy if one’s caught leaving its borders.
We discussed the horrors of this tiny land where people don’t have the freedoms of speech or choice (when it comes to military or choosing a college of your choice), female genital mutilation, and how people (including him) get imprisoned on a daily basis for anything and everything.
Despite these brutalities, this country holds a lot of beauty in itself where you can experience four seasons within j3-hourhour drive from one end to another. There are also cultural beauties where nine different cultures live together in harmony with rich history behind their buildings and towns.
After meeting and listening to him, I’m more aware and very thankful for the freedom and privilege we have here in America, and in most of the other countries as well. It also makes me very compassionate for all the refugees all over the world.
I hope it will have the same effect on you as you listen to this week’s episode as well!
And as always, I appreciate your comments, feedback and questions.
Have a wonderful week and stay grateful for the life we get to experience in the “land of the free.”

Welcome to the very first episode of my cultural exploration podcast. I am your host, Eny. I’m Hungarian and I was born in Transylvania. I wasn’t aware of how cool it sounded (being from Transylvania) until I moved here to the States and saw the looks on people’s faces after I told them where I was from. Some were surprised I dared to come out in the daylight, others were secretly looking for fangs in my mouth, and there were people who didn’t even believe my story because they were convinced that Transylvania is not a real place, just a fictional one.
So as your host, I found it appropriate to start my journey of cultural exploration with my own birth place. I asked two of my close friends,Tundi and Robert – who were also born and raised in the wonderful land of vampires- to share their personal stories and memories with you & me.
Listen to us as we talk about the “beauty” of communism, our first experience coming to America, culture shocks, lessons both countries could learn from each other, traditional foods, must see places, and find out the ‘REAL’ story behind the Dracula myth.
