On this episode, we chat with Damon Knepper, Director of String and Percussion studies and Associate Director of Bands at Ironwood Ridge High School in Tucson, Arizona. We discuss how to wear many hats as a teacher and have your students see those many sides of you, how to incorporate "mentor students" in your classroom, orchestra and guitar class strategies for hybrid learning, creating an environment where students know how to practice and are motivated to do it, how to start a new guitar program, and how to cultivate the relationships with students, not only in the classroom but also at a personal level.

In this episode, we meet with Josh Meibos, the 2018 Arizona Education Foundation Teacher of the Year and a National Board Certified Teacher of Physical Education. We discuss the impact of being named Teacher of the Year, his educational philosophy, ways that he collaborates with his colleague of various subjects to make learning better for his students, his experience successfully advocating for more unstructured play (AZ Senate Bill 1083) in front of the Arizona House Legislative Education Committee, SB 1083's impact on student learning as students return to school and the importance of kindness and mindfulness.
