As we brace ourselves for the 2020 Presidential Election, which will kickoff tomorrow night, most Americans are already weary of the constant screaming and lack of civility of our political leaders — will it ever stop?  We’ll discuss the idea of “civil discourse.”

Election Day is tomorrow and Memorial Day is observed at the end of May.  There is an intersection of those two hallowed days tomorrow in the United States — our right as Americans to vote, a right preserved by an untold number of Americans Killed in Action or Wounded in Action.  As a veteran, I look at voting as a DUTY of citizenship — by voting each citizen honors the sacrifice of Americans that he or she will never know, who selflessly preserved that right, sometimes at the cost of their only life.  Do your duty:  VOTE.

In keeping with the season — Marine Corps Birthday Season, we’ll talk Prime Rib with the Chef who will teach us how create that great crust on Prime Rib that we love so much.

The Gunner has another birthday!!!!   We’ll look at historical voter turnouts in the United States and the number of seats won, but most LOST in the both the House and Senate.  Forgive us if we’re not excited about a House of Representatives controlled by the Democrats and a Senate controlled by the Republicans — which means for two years NOTHING will get done but more investigations and mud slinging.

With the 243rd Birthday of the Marine Corps approaching, we’ll hear the Commandant’s 2018 Birthday Message which is a great one!

Marine Corps Col Kevin Norton recently relinquished command of the 4th Marine Regiment.  He sent ALL MARINE RADIO a copy of an interview he did with a 4th Division Marine from World War II — Warren Jorgenson — who grew up in small town Iowa and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1939.  Jorgenson’s story is an amazing one of far away places while be part of the “China Marines” and survival as a prisoner of war and laborer in both the Philippines and in “mainland Japan.”

His own words are riveting as he describes both China and the outbreak of the war to Col Norton.

During my trip to Washington DC to cover the Marine Corps Marathon I engage multiple senior members of the DOD on Afghanistan, asking them to “make sense of our current policy there.”  All were glad to talk about Afghanistan in detail and explain the broader policy implications of our current policy there.  We’ll talk about it.

LtCol Art Antczak, USMC (ret) joined the Marine Corps seven months before World War II. You’ll hear Art discuss his training to be a Marine Corps Raider and deploying to the western Pacific as a raider aboard destroyers specifically configured to carry them.  You’ll hear Art talk about the disbanding of the Raiders and transfer to an MP Company in the 4th Marine Division and ultimately combat on Guam & Okinawa.

The best history is brought to us by those who lived it and LtCol Antczak is exactly that.

IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT INVEST AN HOUR INTO UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE UNITED STATES IS DOING AROUND THE WORLD — then listen to the Secretary of Defense during a question and answer session at the U.S. Institute of Peace.  Always interesting to listen to, in this hour Mattis lays out the broader issues that exist in each part of the world that the United States is engaged in either conflict or in a political/military contest.
