With Hurricane FLORENCE bearing down on Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, we’ll talk to the ALL MARINE RADIO Head Chef Kim Holmes about his experience with real disasters having lived through a few of them in his life, including a flood & fire that destroyed his city and business… Grand Forks ND in 1997.  The Federal Government has positioned military assets around the Hurricane in North Carolina, which is the appropriate response after the debacle that was Hurricane KATRINA that rocked New Orleans.

We’ll also talk about Wild Rice and how to prepare it.  Specifically we’ll discuss cooking Wild Rice in chicken broth which sounds great!

As Mac contemplated “Grinch Moments” (when the Grinch hears the Who People and his heart grows) he began to think about The Grinch and came to the conclusion that the Grinch suffered from trauma.  We’ll talk about it.

Mac has advocated for the DOD to have a greater for in natural disaster responses, especially for the first 96 hours as a State struggles to deal with a variety of emergencies including mustering its own Guard units.  This is in place ast FLORENCE bears down on North Carolina.  We’ll talk about it.

Colonel John Ripley is an icon of the United States Marine Corps and his exploits at the Dong Ha Bridge in 1972 are the stuff of legends.  LtCol Ed Nevgloski, USMC (ret) is a family friend and currently the Edwin N. McClellan History Research Fellow at the Marine Corps History Division, Ed joined ALL MARINE RADIO to discuss Col Ripley’s career and the specifics of his action as an advisor to the South Vietnamese Marine Corps at the Dong Ha Bridge during the “Easter Offensive” of 1972.

During the course of wishing my youngest sister Susan a happy 55th birthday, I got sidetracked and began discussing my Mom (Corporal Punishment Kathleen) and how she took no grief from her kids and EXPECTED you to behave.  What ensued was pretty funny.  I ACTUALLY GOT SPANKED AFTER GETTING HIT BY A CAR!!!  WTF!?
