This summer, food blogger Kristina Cho won two James Beard Awards, including one for her first cookbook, Mooncakes and Milkbread: Sweet and Savory Recipes Inspired by Chinese Bakeries. We speak with Kristina about her secret to making great mooncakes, the signature dish of the Chinese Moon Festival happening this weekend.
Actor and comedian Kate Berlant has had a busy 2022. Her comedy special, "Would It Kill You To Laugh," co-created with John Early, has gotten great reviews. She also appears in the new "A League of Their Own" spinoff series, as well as the Oliva Wilde directed film, "Don't You Worry Darling." Here in New York, she's starring in a one-woman Off-Broadway show, "Kate," which runs through October 8. Berlant joins to preview her show, and everything else she's got going on.
The original "Lord of the Rings" trilogy earned composer Howard Shore--who also scored "The Hobbit" films--two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and three Grammy's for Best Score Soundtrack Album. For the new series, "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," composer Bear McCreary had to figure out how to build on that legacy and write the sound of a much earlier Middle Earth. McCreary explains how he approached it.

Terri Lyne Carrington is a drummer, composer, and founder of the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. Her latest album is Live At The Detroit Jazz Festival, a recorded concert featuring Wayne Shorter, esperanza spalding, and Leo Genovese. On September 16, she will release the album New Standards, celebrating compositions by female composers, alongside a songbook and a multi-media exhibition. Carrington joins us to discuss her many projects.
