In his letter to the Colossians, Paul also mentions the church at Laodicea most likely because they were being infiltrated by the same heresy, philosophies and lies. We know by the description used in Revelation 3 that Laodicea’s spiritual condition is described as lukewarm, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. However, their self-assessment was that they were rich and required nothing. Perhaps the believers in Colossae faced the same outcome if they were not careful. Therefore, Paul wrote to them to avert potential spiritual disaster.
