  • Why sustainable creativity is essential for a functional life

Your creativity is a key part of who you are. As humans, we are all meant to create.Ā  Why do so many people feel frustrated with their creative energy? How can you create in a way that's sustainable and not draining?

The key is in noticing the input/output of energy. Basically, the amount of energy you get out of what you are creating must be equal to or greater than the amount of energy you put in. Otherwise, your creative expression will not be sustainable. You'll feel drained and exhausted.

  • [Systems] Adele Wang interviews Dr. Nelson Bulmash: The psychology of the pandemic

If you've been disappointed by the attitudes by your fellow man to the COVID 19 pandemic, listen as I interview chiropractor/naturopath/clinical nutritionist Dr. Nelson Bulmash on this topic. The debate over the public health crisis has made everything more confusing for everyone.

I basically asked him, "How did we get here??"

As a health provider, Dr. Bulmash shares his observations about what he calls the "three groups of people" in the narrative around the virus. These attitudes have deep implications for how people respond to taking care of their health.

Dr. Bulmash has his own podcast, "Health Matters". He is a delightful interviewer and I was honored to be a guest on one of his shows.

In this interview, Dr. Bulmash shares:

    1. what people can do to protect their health
    2. how people can avoid being drawn into fight/flight toxic situations

A bit more about Dr. Bulmash:

Dr. Nelson D. Bulmash is an established expert in health and fitness, dedicated to helping you reach your optimal health through innovative chiropractic care and clinical nutrition. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1987 with a bachelor’s in Biology and minors in both chemistry and psychology. He completed his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College in 1991.

Dr. Bulmash has coached American team powerlifters at the national and international level, helping them to win gold, silver, and bronze medals, often setting new American and World records. He has provided chiropractic and nutritional care for athletes in the NFL, MBA, MLB, tennis, golf, martial arts, rugby, soccer, rowing, gymnastics, equestrian, cheerleading, volleyball, track and field, and powerlifting communities.

After spending over 25 years building a clinical practice specializing in chiropractic and clinical nutrition, while simultaneously completing two Diplomates in clinical nutrition, a national certification as a naturopath and clinical nutritionist, and multiple advanced certifications in nutrition, he pioneered new protocols providing cutting-edge care for his patients.

Dr. Bulmash is a published writer and speaker currently residing in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he is the founder and CEO of Health Matters. He is available for consulting, speaking, and teaching.

  • "I don't know what I want to do but I know I'm meant to do something else" -- finding your calling -- Part 1

Many people feel frustrated because they have a deep sense that they should be doing something else. But they aren't sure what that is. I think it's because instinctively we have a sense that a life lived with purpose and meaning is part of reaching our full potential. But how do you do this?

A key part of this is service to others through your own humanity.Ā  This might be through coaching, mentoring or serving others in some sort of expert capacity.

So how do you do this, especially when you want to be monumental and well-known so that you can make money doing your calling?

Start with one person. Build the muscle first of what your gift is, before trying to scale to how to be "big". Many people jump into strategic thinking way too early, in terms of how they might earn a living, when they are still unclear exactly how they want to help people.

Stay tuned for more episodes around this topic.

  • Adele Wang interviews Cornell Bunting, author of "Escaping the Darkness -- Using Adversity to Find Purpose"

Imagine being framed and locked up for 10 months for a crime you didn't commit (conspiracy, extortion,Ā  kidnapping, and possibly murder).Ā

Then waiting 2 years and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to finally have your day in court and being fully acquitted of 16 charges.Ā

Then on top of that, dying/being technically dead 16 minutes in front of thousands of people. And then coming back to life.Ā

And then moving on to have a big impact on the world.Ā

Can it be any more amazing than that??

Well, that's a bit about my guest, Cornell Bunting, author of ā€œEscaping the Darkness – Using Adversity to Find Purposeā€ and several other best-selling books.

Listen to his remarkable story for how you can succeed with whatever adversity you are sitting with right now.Ā  Maybe you can have a "fly moment" that changes your life too.

  • What if "self-improvement" is a big set up for frustration and constant disappointment??

Many people are driven to improve themselves. But at what point does it become a trap? The key may be in the distinction that's behind the "why" you are interested in self-improvement. Is it to fix something? Or to grow in to more of yourself?

Listen to this clip for suggestions that can help you determine your "why?" so you can be feeling juicy instead of frustrated and critical of yourself.

  • Why does learning to "self love" feel so vague?

Behind most everything we experience as humans is a need to learn who we are and in doing that, develop more self love. But what does "self love" really mean? This clip shares some distinctions and examples that can be useful.

The key is in changed behavior, not more insight on self-love . Learning more about yourself through self inquiry and spiritual practice is good, but nothing changes until behavior changes. Until that happens, more insight into yourself doesn't typically make people feel better. They just understand themselves better.

  • Why working on your confidence and self esteem doesn't always work

A lack of self esteem and confidence holds many people back from achieving their full potential. It keeps people from going for their dreams. And yet, sometimes people confuse the result ("confidence") with the process ("how to be more confident").Ā  In fact, people often spend a lot of energy on their inner work that can actually delay action forward. It's like the energy of getting ready to finally live life.

Similarly, sometimes well-meaning parents who are trying to instill self esteem and confidence in their children end up creating the opposite result of what they wanted. We have a generation of young people who psychologists have noted are more anxious and lacking in confidence than ever before, in spite of well-intentioned loving "helicopter parents".

Drawing on my experience working with hundreds of people to help them create success, this clip offers a perspective that may be useful. Basically, the "what" is different than the "how".

"You don't need confidence. You need courage."
