Asking a valid and concerning question— will the Crenshaw / LAX rail line finally open — and open now, because of the upcoming Super Bowl being held in Los Angeles 2022? The Crenshaw / LAX line broke ground in 2013 after years of planning. The rail line construction closed businesses and interrupted those remaining; it has also impacted the community because of construction , business closures and street damage. It’s impacted the community because a promise has yet to be kept and fulfilled. The last in person meeting in Fall 2019 discussed the failure to open on time, however we are ending 2021 and a large money making franchise and it’s money making hype that spreads throughout any town that hosts a large scale event, leads me to believe that my sarcasm and cynical comment about waiting until the Olympics 2028 are held to finally open the train and connect The Historic South Central Los Angeles to the international airport, but we may be surprised by an opening and receiving the taxes paid gift for the visitors of Super Bowl LVI. The most efficient way to move around Los Angeles proper is train, not bus— because we know the lack of frequency with Metro buses compared to Santa Monica, Culver City, Redondo, Foothill Transit, or Omnitrans. I can type these other agencies because I’ve used them first hand, and there’s a much different rider experience. Here’s to hoping I am wrong about Olympic 2028 and right about Super Bowl LVI (2022), which is still a slap in the face to the community but allows for transit — moving the community / city to one place or another for business or pleasure.
