The world of music documentaries is one filled with riches. Other than simply listening to it, there's no better way to absorb the power and importance of music and its ability to change the world. There's a reason why Decline Of Western Civilization, Penelope Spheeris' anthropologic look at the underground hardcore punk scene in late 70s/early 80s LA, was selected by the Library Of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry, being deemed "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant". That film is much more than images of angry-looking white dudes spitting on each other. It takes the viewer to a specific place and time, and shows how music can move people in strange and fascinating ways.
