Alliance Blog Podcast: Interviews with Independent Wrestlers and Wrestling Personalities

It seems like nowadays everyone has a podcast.  In fact, it is for that reason I was hesitant in starting this podcast, Jay Cal's View.  But, exactly ten years go to this day, I started my first podcast.  I have to admit, I was extremely nervous.  I didn't know how it would be received.  I didn't know if people would care or listen?

The show would change formats slightly early on from one person hosting the show to three.  My partners Jaden and DKM would join the show starting with episode three.  After the first 16 months, we changed the name to #talkNWA, a hashtag we still use to promote the show.  After the change in ownership of the National Wrestling Alliance in 2012, we made the decision to change the name to The Alliance Guys Podcast.   The goal was always to cover the entirety of the NWA since day one.

So for your entertainment, here is the premiere episode of Alliance-Wrestling Radio.  I will freely admit that I was extremely nervous and was reading mostly from a script that a free thought.

If you care to watch the live video of the intro of this podcast, you can watch on our twitch channel.

My content was blocked on Facebook...

Unlike Snitsky, it was entirely my fault.

Earlier this week I posted a video to twitch.tv/theallianceblog using content from All Elite Wrestling, without permission.  I also added the video to Facebook, knowing that this version was an actual upload and not a stream that I had to use with twitch.  I guess I just assumed that I wouldn't need to ask for permission for something that was only 30 some seconds long.  That wouldn't be the case.  Now thus far, the video is intact on Twitch, but I date not export to YouTube for I'm afraid I'll be flagged as using copyrighted material.

So Jay Cal's #HotTake will live for now on Twitch, but in case you wanted to hear my take on AEW not acknowledging Cody as a former Worlds Heavyweight Champion on their broadcasts, I've included it here.

Things are blowing up at the Alliance-Wrestling studios.  First and foremost we're turning out content hand over fist to correspond with the NWA Studio show, #NWAPOWERRR.

On this episode of Jay Cal's View, we hand over the time to Jay Cal and Jaden as an abridged version of The Alliance Guys Podcast made exclusive to the listeners of the JCV.  The Alliance Guys Podcast was the original podcasting vehicle for the Alliance, starting back in 2009 when both DKM and Jaden joined Jay Cal for "Alliance Wrestling Radio."  The show would be used to promote upcoming NWA Wrestling events and feature interviews with NWA talent at the time.  The trio would go on to interview; Matt Borne, Lance Cade, Charlie Haas, Adam Pearce, Shawn Divari, Chance Prophet, Bill Behrens, David Marquez, and a host of others who were associated with the National Wrestling Alliance.  The show would change names over the years before settling on The Alliance Guys Podcast.  Please give us a listen as we #talkNWA and give some thoughts on the direction of the National Wrestling Alliance

We are four days away to history being made at the Georgia Public Broadcasting studios when the National Wrestling Alliance returns to the format it made famous... Studio TV Tapings.  On this episode of Jay Cal's View, I run down some of the older NWA Regmine shows.  NWA Mountain State, NWA Smoky Mountain, NWA SAW, and of course the big daddy, NWA Hollywood aka Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.  I also lament on some of the talent I hope to see at the TV Taping.  While we're at it, I briefly talk about some of the storylines that is coming into Atlanta on September 30th.

Also, some updates with the site.  We've been covering the National Wrestling Alliance for well over a decade.  And we will continue to be the premier source of your NWA News and Information.

Today the NWA announced Jim Cornette joining the team.  Cornette will provide "Color Commentary" with Joe Galli for the upcoming return to studio produced television.  The shows are set to tape this in less than a month in Atlanta Georgia.  Cornette has been apart of the broadcasting team for each of the NWA shows since new ownership has taken over.  However the announcement isn't without controversy and we'll be talking about that.

Also, he is know as the "Librarian" Peter Avalon in All Elite Wrestling.  But the self proclaimed biggest man in pro wrestling, international superstar Peter Avalon has a showdown with the "National Treasure" Nick Aldis on Saturday September the 14th in Mesa Arizona. Nearly 2 years in the making, we discuss the history that Avalon has with the National Wrestling Alliance and discuss, could the Ten Pounds of Gold be heading to AEW?

Twenty-five years ago today, what ECW did to start their revolution nearly killed an institution.  Once the "Franchise" Shane Douglas tossed the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship to the ground and declared himself the ECW World Champion, he nearly extinguished the flame of the National Wrestling Alliance.  However much like the phoenix rising from the Ashes the NWA rebuilt, grew, and has become what it is today.

On this episode of Jay Cal's View we'll take a look at what happened to the NWA after it's desolation by ECW and how the NWA finally got redemption.  We'll also speak about which World Champions could appear on the NWA TV Show that's set to tape Sept. 30th in Atlanta Georgia.

Thanks for listening to Jay Cal's View.  A presentation of www.alliance-wrestling.com.

On this episode Jay Cal pontificates on the prospects of who might be joining the National Wrestling Alliance on this foray into episodic television wrestling.  Former NWA National Champion Chance Prophet, reigning United Wrestling Network Tag Team Champions Reno Scum, Holidead, Thunder Rosa, Mancer, Greek God Papadon, former three time NWA Tag Team Champion Lance Hoyt, and David Starr were all quick to answer the NWA's call for talent.

Currently signed to the National Wrestling Alliance are Worlds Champion Nick Aldis, National Champion James Storm, Eli Drake, and Women's Champion Allysin Kay.  Expected, but not officially announced are former Worlds Champion Tim Storm, Jocephus, Crimson and Jax Dane, Thomas Latimer and Kamile.

Also, Jay Cal speculates who won't be involved.  Competing parties from Ring of Honor and Major League Wrestling along with All Elite Wrestling have certainly made it hard to lock up free agent talent.

While he's at it, Jay Cal ponders if the NWA had ever really left Studio Wrestling.  From JCP to Music City Wrestling, NWA Wildside (both of which I left forgot to mention on the podcast) to Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, the NWA has been mostly on studio style wrestling (on and off) for decades.

Eight years ago "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce defeated former NWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Rave, then National Champion Chance Prophet, and then North American Champion Shaun Tempers in a four way match to fill the vacant NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in Columbus Ohio at the Ohio State Fair.   You can watch the match here.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1qymXPaDME&fbclid=IwAR2tN4fPHONwJWA62AVn0WLqQhVBapNfAPGO7LI8LRrptjZNeFUy0r7Zh9s

Despite the animosity the duo had for each other, a match between Adam Pearce and the Sheik could have legitimately launched the authentic era some eight years before David Lagana coined the phrase.  So why didn't the match happen?  In this episode of Jay Cal's View I take a look back at the events that led up to the change in the originally billed match.  And what it means to the NWA because of it.
