Alliance Blog Podcast: Interviews with Independent Wrestlers and Wrestling Personalities

The National Wrestling Alliance was once known as the oldest sanctioning body of professional wrestling in the United States.  Celebrating it's 71 years of existence the brand has had many highs and lows.

The current upswing the NWA can be attributed to Billy Corgan and David Lagana.  As Vice President of the NWA, Lagana's biggest challenge was to bring back relevancy to a championship belt that had seen better days.

Since the two years after Billy Corgan purchased the brand the NWA has had a bit of revival.  Kicking off the Ten Pounds of Gold all the way to the wildly popular YouTube Series #NWAPOWERRR

Jay Cal and David speak about the program, the Jim Cornette incident, the talent that has surprised him, and the growth of the brand.

On this episode of the Alliance Guys the fellas recap NWA POWERRR: One More Time...

Kevin Douglas and Jay Cal approve of this week's offering of NWA POWERRR.  After what the Alliance Guys agree was a misstep last week, the duo agrees that this show was a step in the right direction, Leading to the NWA PPV Into the Fire.

James Storm believes he's a victim of the NWA's conspiracy.  Nick Aldis believes Storm is going to be a victim of his own aspirations.

Melina explains why she's in the NWA, which creates a confrontation between the Woman's Champion and Melina's Birds of Prey.

There is a direct look at the Question Mark as he invades the Wrestlecade Convention as well as the confrontation of former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and Japanese Wrestling Legend the Great Muta and the "National Treasure", Nick Aldis.

Lastly, the Wild Cards (Latimer and Isaacs) defend the NWA World Tag Team Championship against the Rock N Roll Express (Gibson and Morton).  Kevin is not a fan.  Jay and Kevin go back and forth on the merit of using wrestlers past their primes.

2019 has been very kind to the Rock N Roll Express, a tag team that gained notoriety back in the mid-1980s.  Outside of competing at the NWA Crockett Cup 2019, feuding with the Briscoes in Ring of Honor,  appearing for NJPW USA teaming with Hiroshi Tanahashi, later battling the Bullet Club, winning a 12 man tag team elimination match, working Ohio Valley, Bar Wrestling, and all in all making towns, it's been a stellar year for the tag team who has made their mark in the some 35 plus years they have been working as a tag team.

On this special episode of Jay Cal's View, we play the full audio from the VIP Meet & Greet from the Crockett Cup forum with the Midnight Express and the Rock N Roll Express.  It is no secret that Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson have been having a Come Back of the Year type run, the duo challenges Thomas Latimer and Royce Isaacs for the National Wrestling Alliance World Tag Team Titles this Tuesday on NWA POWERRR at 6:05 Eastern, make sure you tune in to see history made.

This Podcast was the first Podcast all year that didn't have one snafu.  Not one dropped call, not one dysfunctional camera, everything went magically from a technical standpoint.  Which is probably why we were so chaotic in our discussion.  First things first, Jay is really bad at taking notes.  Secondly, Jaden is probably going to wind up dead because of an Illuminati plot to silence him.  And DKM, well, he was actually in a good mood.

This was the episode where Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana regains the NWA National Championship, The Dawsons give an answer to Outlaws Inc, and we determine that "Clickbait" Joe Galli might be the biggest heel on the show.  Plus who's the real puppet master of the NWA?

At full force, the Alliance Guys #talkNWA with Episode 4 from #NWAPOWERRR.

At first, we speak about the multi-verse that was created by having The Wild Cards defend the NWA World Tag Team Championship at the Modist Madness event at Modist Brewery.  If the Rock N Roll Express showed of their tag team titles then how can Isaacs and Lattimer have a set of titles to defend... unless our to universes are converging and now we have two sets of NWA World Tag Team Champions.  It wouldn't be the first time.

We briefly mention a disgraced POS who used to be the promoter of the Virginia area for the NWA, long before Billy Corgan bought the NWA.

Next, we identify a recurring theme.  Why do the champions have so much POWER on POWERRR.  They chose who they defend the titles against.  They pick their opponents.  They also decide when.  Why does Nick Aldis get so convoluted with his match stipulations?
