This episode of ALLIANCE Live is the first of four podcasts being released to mark Co-production Week 2019. Sally Shaw is the founder and director of Ideas For Ears, a third sector organisation supporting businesses & organisations to adopt best practices that are loved and wanted by people with hearing loss.

Sally highlights the creation of the Hearing Access Protocol being developed making it more possible for more people to more easily hear and follow the spoken word and other audible information. The initiative has co-production at its core having been developed with people with hearing loss across the UK and by providing guidance to make any service design process more inclusive.

This episode of the ALLIANCE Live podcast is a special preview show for Co-Production Week. We speak with Sam Jordan from the Scottish Community Development Centre or SCDC who facilitate the Scottish Co-production Network and lead on Co-production Week in Scotland.

Now in its 4th year, Co-production Week Scotland is about bringing people together from across the country to share ideas, learning and stories about how co-production puts people and communities at the heart of the support and services they’re a part of.

The ALLIANCE Live team worked with LGBT Health and Wellbeing to produce a podcast capturing a panel discussion around mental health within the LGBTQ community. 

Within the discussion the panel talk about experiences of accessing mainstream mental health services so we can figure solutions to help access and the role that LGBTQ organisations can play.

LGBT Health and Wellbeing welcomes the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, intersex and asexual communities and allies.  Our services and activities are for all people aged 16+.  This includes those who are questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity and those who do not use labels for either.

In this ALLIANCE Live podcast Jill Scoular and Julia Donaldson from the Home Care team with Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership are joined by Tommy Whitelaw to spend some time telling you about the partnership working with the Dementia Carer Voices team at the ALLIANCE.

Home care are a provider of care at home services supporting 4500 service users every day. Our Head of Service had previously worked with Tommy Whitelaw at the ALLIANCE at another local authority and wanted to bring some of that invaluable contribution of 'What Matters To You,' to home care in Glasgow.

In march 2019 HSCP Care at Home Services worked in partnership with the ALLIANCE specifically around their 'Dementia Carers Voices' project, led Tommy. The aim of the initiative was to engage, inform and empower individuals working in front facing care to feel confident having conversations about 'What matters to you?' with individuals using Care At Home services who are living with dementia, their families and carers. The team delivered 15 sessions over 6 locations involving all 13 the care services.

After the end of a long day of conversations with representatives from across sectors within health and social care, ALLIANCE Director Irene Oldfather sat down with Stefano Mallia, to reflect on his visit to Scotland and the relationship Scotland will have with the EESC post-Brexit.

Barnahus, or Child’s House, is a multi-agency and child focused response for victims and witnesses of violence.  Across Europe, the model is characterised by intensive, multi-agency and ongoing support, child friendly setting, and a single forensic interview.  Children and young people’s rights to support, participation, decision making and justice are enshrined in the model.
