An old hymn of the faith proclaims The light of the world is Jesus, but the world has neither looked to the Light, nor understood it. The world looks, instead, for other light of its own making.

We are passing away and shall soon be gone. This is what it means to be a human being, and we need to face it. We are born. We live a short time during which we sin and then we die. From the very beginning, God had promised to send a Savior to a long and fallen line of sinners.

Donald Grey Barnhouse was - for half a century - one of the most widely acclaimed American preachers. Scholarly exposition and a popular approach marked his teaching as well as a passion for Making God's Word Plain. Listen and find out why an unyielding faith, devotion to Christ, innovation, and great energy marked his ministry.

"Where is Thy faithfulness?" Something so grim had occurred in Israel that the Psalmist was led to question Gods faithfulness to His covenant with the king. In fact, the Psalmist states in no uncertain terms that God is responsible for the demise of both king and country. Questioning Gods faithfulness is not something the believer wants to readily admit, but most of us have experienced the feeling of abandonment and isolation when everything seems to go wrong.

God has promised an inheritance for His people, and that inheritance is entrance into the kingdom of heaven and everlasting joy. Before that time comes, however, Christians will be reviled and face persecution from the people of this age. Out of those hard experiences were not to be defeated or cast down. Were to play an important role in Gods plan of redemption. Psalm 89 begins by praising the faithfulness of our God, and one of the great promises of His faithfulness is that Davids line would be established through all generations. In fact, God goes so far as to say that He has made a covenant with His chosen one, and a covenant cannot be broken by a covenant-keeping God.

Jesus Sermon on the Mount paints a picture of the elements of the proper heart condition of His followers. It was meant for those who had experienced the new life in Christ, a relationship which would allow them to face persecution in an entirely different way from the worlds norms. Turn to Matthew chapter 5 as Liam Goligher shows us that the Beatitudes were really meant to reflect the inward heart condition and the outward actions of a life totally surrendered to Jesus.

We hear of the importance of preparation everywhere. People need to prepare for all kinds of things, exams, interviews, visitors, children, marriage, deadlines, taxes and even death. Now God did not need to prepare the way for Jesus to bring salvation to the world, but he did.
