"The Color Purple" made $18.1 Million on its Christmas Day opening, but it's projected to lose between $80 million and $100 million, and to make matters worse the industry isn't taking the "Oscar bait." What happened? Why did a movie with a seal of approval from Stephen Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey tank so quickly? Hopefully, this is a lesson learned for big studios: Stop spending four-quadrant money on one-quadrant movies.

...more December 08, 2023Godzilla Minus One - Film Review I don't know if it's because it's an international film and we (Americans) are considered a foreign market or if Japanese studios think Americans won't enjoy it, but the noise surrounding this movie is too quiet and it's not getting the marketing it deserves. It's excellent! By far, it's the best Godzilla movie I've seen.

The plot is weak, the protagonist is unlikeable and the sidekick goat is obnoxious. Disney is stuck in an identity and culture crisis and I'm praying they find their way out.
