Once in a Blue Moon…

How big, how blue, how beautiful! This Full blue moon in Capricorn is our SECOND of two full lunations since the beginning of Cancer season. It is a call-back moment to the full moon we had on the day after the Summer Solstice, June 22nd! Cancer-Capricorn, Sun + Moon, these primordial ancestors want to support us in creating systems of CARE.

As opposing signs, Cancer-Capricorn is the axis of Legacy. It initiates us into the reality of what it means to be given a life, inextricably tied to the reality of being an Ancestor on a lineage — and all that comes with it. The blessings, the joy, the hopes and dreams — the burdens, the challenges, the unprocessed stuff. It is all here, to be felt + experienced as we build our OWN world.

Now, it is our turn. We were handed a world when we were born, one that we will inevitably shape with each emotion we feel, each structure we build. We are creating a legacy that will outlive us. This full moon asks; what kind of world are you building? What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? What does it MEAN to you, to be an Ancestor?

This axis is the reminder that we are bound together. To the seven generations that came before us, and the seven generations (ever onwards) that will follow. We will hand off a world and say the same; “now, it’s your turn.”

So, what will you do with this one precious life? Rest assured, that being an ancestor does NOT just mean you were handed all of the unprocessed sh*t, and histories of colonization yet untended. Sure, yes, that too — but ALSO. By virtue of existing, you were handed the birthright of belonging. To your very own Ancestors, the ones that dreamed of you hundreds of years ago. The ones that made choices for the very sake of you one day coming into this world. The traditions, the teachings, the ancestral identity and all of its MAGICK that you also inherited. It is all for you, now.

So often when we think of ancestry, it is very easy to focus on the burdens. The unprocessed stuff that has inevitably made our lives more challenging, or even contributed to our own trauma. However, there’s also a lot of gifts, care, and beauty coming downstream. There is MAGICK.

At the very least, there is the ANCESTORS OF THE LAND that you come from, and all of its eager yearning to support you. You are indigenous to some place(s) on this good Earth, and those places are just as much your Ancestors as the human ones are. If it feels challenging to connect to the beloved human dead, turn towards the land instead. Know that the spirits of place are likely where your people sourced their animist magical powers, thousands of years ago. And like the sun and moon watching over us all, the land does the same. It’s all still here, if we cultivate connection + relationship with it.

Firstly to say, big astrological events like this are not meant to be feared. They might not affect you personally at all. However, this is one that hold implications for the collective family in big ways.

Uranus has been in Taurus for many years now, shaking up our foundations to reveal what new life is ready to come thru. When we fight this process, it makes it all the more uncomfortable. Like taking grape cough syrup or getting a new tattoo, the outcome it often better than the initial discomfort.

As Mars, the planet of conflict and ADVOCACY, brings its fire to the already sparky Uranus, something begins to burn that we cannot ignore. My sense is that this will bring attention to our experience of the collective powers at play, by way of economic and societal impact.

Rage is Sacred. acknowledging how the systems are broken is the first step to changing. them. Letting yourself get mad about how you’re personally impacted by the lack of care is VITAL. Awareness is the first step to action, and if you’re not allowing yourself to advocate for your experience of injustice, you’re likely fawning.

Find solace in the support of community, of friends and chosen family whose culture is in direct response to the lack of care evident in our systems. Work together to vision a world that we’ll become beautiful elders, proud of the change we’ve created. You are building that future every moment of every day, in all of your choices — even in the choice to be more kind to folks around you.

We got this.

During the New Moon, the Sun and Moon were in cahoots, whispering dreams and seeding prayers for all that we are becoming. Something has been planted in the fertile soil of our subconscious, that will grow in us as the moon builds into the Full Blue Capricorn Moon at the end of July.

Cancerian reminds us that we are, indeed, the dream of our Ancestors, even though we may not have consciously chosen to be so. And in this mysterious bond, we have access to ANCIENT CARE + support that is yearning for our receptivity. The old ones know how this goes, that all humans on Earth right now have childlike selves crying out for help. It is the ancient ones who answer that call, if we’re vulnerable enough to let it all in to HOLD US.

At any moment, we have the opportunity for emotional renewal. To choose how we want to FEEL in our life, moving forward. and that requires certain conditions, to allow us to actually give way into that tenderness ttaking up space in our experience. To actually FEEL our feelings, requires a certain level of protection; sanctuary. The shell space, the healthy boundaries of armor that say “you are safe to unfold here”.

What does it look like to cultivate this space within ourselves, and also bring that care out into the world around us? What does it look like to turn towards the world with the energy of the Supreme Caretaker, the Divine Mother embodied, to nurture and be nurtured by that source of care within? What does it FEEL like to move through the world as if you have actually been every persons mother in a past life? Fierce compassion.

Things are raw on Earth right now. For too long, the balance has been tipped to the masculine structures that build tradition for long term support. But these systems have NOT accounted for the vulnerability of our tenderness, of the inner children within ALL of us, terrified that they’re not going to be safe and cared for by these structures. We need SYSTEMS OF LOVE. Of Care. Of tenderness that allows us all to trust that we’ll be protected in our humanness.

We create this sanctuary at the level of our communities, within our relationships to friends and strangers alike. We treat one another as if we are TRULY family. We steward that care into the world and cultivate it in the spaces we create for ourselves and one another. We build systems of care, alongside the wisdom of our grandmothers.

Discipline gives way to freedom. Becoming emotionally invested in what we want allows for true devotion to fuel us. Allow your care to chart your course.

This week, Saturn stations retrograde (on June 29th) in Pisces, asking us to review and renew the commitments we made to ourselves in March 2023. Notice how far you’ve come, and what your emotional investment has allowed you to cultivate in your life.

It’s okay to fall off the horse. The experience that comes with it shows us what we really care about, and why we decided to get on the horse in the first place. Take this as good, important data, and reassess where you’re at NOW.

We’re always changing, and devotion does its work on us in the process. It’s a necessary part of the process to renew our commitments, in NEW ways. To figure out our “WHY”, now, knowing that it’s likely changed since we first set off on this new phase of growth. Reflect on where you were at in March 2023, and allow it to be a point of reference for the renewal process now.

Saturn will be retrograde until November, so there’s no rush. We get to spend this next season rearranging the contents of our life to be in deeper alignment with the new course we’re charting. Come November, we’ll be well on our way to carving new pathways through which to channel our devotion.

The New Moon in Cancer on Friday July 5th offers a moment of emotional cleansing, to clear away some of the residue that’s built up from life being lived. Take it as an opportunity to reset, to check in with the truth of your inner experience and access CARE. For self, first and foremost.

The wisdom of Cancer reveals to us the untapped well of MAGICK that is constantly flowing thru our emotional bodies.

When we refine the listening practice to this lunar realm within, it can be honed like a fine-tuned instrument, guiding us towards larger truths in our lives that only the body can pick up on.

Cancer rules all the fluids in our body, from the plasma to milk. The only zodiac ruled by the Moon, she takes on the exalted expression of dear Luna in her qualities. This speaks to something deep beneath the surface of our conscious mind; the neck-down realm of our body’s ancient Wisdom.

Within it, we carry not only the memory of everything that we’ve felt + experienced in our own personal life history, but we also catch the current of emotional energies that flow downstream from those that came before us. There is immense wisdom in these bodies.

Bow to the Body as the Great Oracle that it is. Consider that your emotional currents are trying to take you somewhere magnificent, far beyond what the mind can perceive in logical sense. Listen to that feeling and follow it. I guarantee its leading you towards some sort of hidden magick, waiting to be revealed.

This in and of itself is a decolonization practice, as the wisdom of our bodies has been suppressed and discredited for many generations, especially in the Western world of intellectual superiority. Perhaps there is fear beneath this hierarchy, as the mystical wisdom of the body is something far beyond what our delicate humans minds will ever be able to fully grasp.

This week, the Sun enters Cancer, ushering us across the threshold of the Summer Solstice. I talk about the rituals of our ancestors + the deeply animist ways of relating to Earth + Stars, that these thresholds specifically remind us of.

Venus + Mercury ALSO enter Cancer this week, bringing a welcome tone shift from all the Gemini energy we've been swirling in! Enter tenderness, vulnerability, and connection from the heart.

Within hours of the Summer Solstice beginning, we have a Full Moon in Capricorn holding down the Great Grandfather energy of this eternally matriarchal/grandmother season. Our two Great Grandparents of Creation, the Sun + Moon, in the respective signs of Cancer/Capricorn feels especially potent for remembering the ancestral web that is this world -- and our place in it all.

What does it mean to honor your life as a gift from those that came before? To both celebrate this privilege, and recognize the vulnerability of interdependence inherent within it?

We belong to the Sun, the Moon, the Mountains + Rivers. These are our Ancestors, as they have always been - for thousands of generations that came before us, and those that will follow.

Edgy, Clunky, Friction — these are the words that emerge in the face of this weeks somewhat activating astrology.

Mars enters Taurus, where it begs us to slow TF down. The momentum we've been building for the past month or so needs a sustainable pace. Move at the speed of Nature - which is likely much slower than you'd think. Recommit to a longer timeline.

Mars will immediately square Pluto in Aquarius, illuminating the influence of Collective tension within our own process + pace. Take it easy, one step at a time.

At the end of the week, Mars makes a conjunction with Uranus in Taurus, which REALLY electrifies our relationship to personal + collective liberation. Let your agitation mobilize you.

Within the wisdom of Gemini lives the Gem of Truth that everything in this Manifestation is filtered through MIND. Our mind is the unique lens we look thru at the world, to write our stories of reality as seen through our unique vantage point.

The experiences we’ve been thru and the unique context we’re living in have shaped the very nature of our Personal Myth, informing our idea of self as the Narrator. The “I” in the story IS the intelligence of your mind, that has collected data from every lived experience and used it to inform + place who you are in the tale.

This is the function of Ahaṁkāra (Sanskrit: अहंकार) - the function of ego that seeks to IDENTIFY - with itself, and any story that informs your sense of self-concept.

This New Moon in Gemini - occuring on June 6th at 8:37am EST - is an opportunity to WRITE NEW STORIES. To assess the influence of yourself as the Narrator, and examine which stories you’ve taken on as the ‘truth’ of who you are.

The Key here is to recognize you are NOT solely DEFINED BY the stories of success or failure in your Narrative of Self. That there is a “secret third thing” in the space between, that allows you to open up into the INFINITE POTENTIAL of every story yet unwritten.

The space between the Caterpillar becoming the Butterfly is the space where anything is possible, because the Ahamkara is not identified with anything. In the No-Thing, it is Everything.

The unexamined Ego/Mind is in devotion to itself, and thus contained by its self-limiting beliefs of what it is (or is NOT) capable of based on PAST EXPERIENCE.

The Ego in Devotion to something much larger recognizes that it has the ability to RECREATE itself thru WRITING NEW STORIES at any given moment.

Of course we’re all functioning within specific contexts that present their own limitations. However, Gemini knows that what sometimes seems like a brick wall is actually a story of our own making; the true magician can turn that wall into Water thru the power of mind; perception.

JUPITER IN GEMINI for the RISING SIGNS!

With Jupiter having freshly entered Gemini, we are ushered into a new foundational energy for the rest of the year. As outer planets, Jupiter + Saturn’s placement gives us the backdrop of our shared collective reality + its energetic expression.

While Jupiter was moving slowly but surely thru Taurus, we were collectively in a time of preparation; gathering resources for what is to come, preparing our soil and tending the seeds. Now, as Jupiter enters Gemini for an entire year, the wind picks up and sweeps us from our somewhat stagnant comfort zone.
