Proverbs 24:16
–
Though a righteous person falls seven times, he will get up, but the wicked will stumble into ruin.
The important  point in this scripture that Pastor Ron leads us to understand is the contrast between the righteous person and the wicked. It does not say that a righteous person will not fall, but the implication is that he or she will fall many times. 

The difference is that a righteous person will get back up!

In the first week of this series, and the first chapter of Colossians, we were welcomed into the story through Paul noting that Jesus has already rescued us from the domain of darkness and into His Kingdom. 

The second chapter of Colossians, we moved the frame of view from the Son to the challenge. A group of false teachers were trying to get the Church in Colossae to add to Jesus some secret spiritual knowledge and binding them back to practices intended to earn salvation and was causing them to head back into the darkness like emperors with no clothes. 

In the third week, last week, and the third chapter of Colossians, we see Paul come to the pivot point. The central idea of the whole writing, that if we are being transformed from the inside out by the person and character of Jesus, we are no longer spiritual streakers, but start to “put on” armor that pushes back the darkness.

What's the secret?

The secret is that Jesus is not found in the extremes of viewpoints or lifestyles that we argue for today. 

Jesus isn't leaning heavy one side or the other... over sports, over religion, over politics. Jesus is found not in the middle either, he's on the very outside calling us to seek him above all other things in this life...

How often do you feel so prepared and yet realize you're not when it comes to life... almost like you've gone into the battlefields completely naked.

How often are we fooled by the shiny things and shiny ideas the world gives and yet so completely unsatisfied in the end, and still left in need? When in reality - all we actually need is Jesus.

This week - Pastor Chaundra wraps up month long Altitude Summit.

Over the past four weeks - the staff of Altitude have led conversations in the responsibility of our faith, the need to act justly and love mercifully to the poor, and the opportunity to be a witness in our city; all for the sake of discipleship and growing the kingdom here. 

Whether its investing in our family, our neighbors, or the next generations - we are called to bear witness to our faith and disciple those who will continue to share the good news until all of earth knows about the love and salvation of Jesus.

What if we decided to flip our perspective, as the church, to see the places we live & the people we interact with as glorious opportunities to be more like Jesus .

Meaning - what if instead of looking at major metropolitan areas in our country as hopeless and not likely to follow Christ, we saw our cities as hopeful opportunities to spread the message of salvation and introduce them to Christ!

God doesn't call us to be on mission for him in areas that are filled with Christians already - instead God calls us to places that need Him the most and says "With me all things are possible"

Pastor Gage encourages us today to see our city, Arvada and the Denver Metro area, as an opportunity to grow the church.
