In 2005, Jim Phillips co-founded a marketing company with his best friend. The business grew quickly, securing major contracts and working with high-profile international clients. But behind the success, Jim began to notice increasingly strange behaviour from his business partner.

What followed was an extraordinary web of deception involving fake contracts, impersonated bank officials, claims of connections to the Chinese government and even a fabricated story about having cancer. Jim eventually discovered that much of what he had been told was a lie.

In this interview, Jim talks openly about what happened, how he began to realise that things weren't adding up, and the impact of discovering that someone so close to him had been living a double life. It really is an incredible story.

She spent more than 100 hours with the man she believed she loved - but she never saw his face.

Kye Fortune was, to the woman at the centre of this case, a real person. They had built a relationship online and eventually met in person, but only on the condition that she wore a blindfold. What followed would lead to one of the strangest criminal cases in the UK, involving deception, identity, trust and consent.

Sunday the 7th of February 1988 was a typical day for Samantha, Colin and their family, residents of Kingsley Way in Tring, Hertfordshire. They went to church, they had dinner, they went to bed, and by the morning, Colin had brutally murdered his wife, cut up her body and hid it in the freezer and the back garden, But why?

In the summer of 2009, 15-year-old Lorraine Thorpe was living a life far removed from the childhood most people would recognise. Growing up around alcohol, drugs, homelessness and violence in Ipswich, Suffolk, Thorpe had become deeply involved with a group of vulnerable adults, including her dad, Desmond, man whose health had deteriorated to the point where his teenage daughter had taken on the role of his carer. But within this troubled group, tensions were building, and before long, two people would lose their lives.

Over several days, violence inside a flat in Ipswich became increasingly extreme, leaving one vulnerable woman suffering horrific injuries. When another member of the group realised what had happened, he threatened to reveal what he knew, setting in motion a second chain of events with devastating consequences. As Suffolk Police began investigating the deaths of Rosalyn Hunt and Desmond Thorpe, detectives were faced with a complex case involving conflicting accounts, multiple suspects and a group of people whose lives had become entangled through addiction, dependency and violence.

In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I examine the murders of Rosalyn Hunt and Desmond Thorpe, the troubled background of Lorraine Thorpe, the people and circumstances surrounding the two deaths, and the investigation that followed. We look at the violence inside Rosalyn's flat, the evidence uncovered by Suffolk Police, the lengthy trial and the convictions that made Lorraine one of Britain's youngest female double murderers. Rachel Thacker was just 21, with a new job, a new car and a future that seemed full of possibilities. A caring, outgoing and popular young woman, she had recently graduated with a degree in occupational therapy and was looking forward to beginning her career.

After travelling to Manchester to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday, Rachel spent the evening with friends before deciding it was time to head home. As she searched for a taxi in the early hours, a car pulled up. Rachel got into the passenger seat believing she had found a way home.

In February 2003, Amarjit Chohan and his family appeared to vanish without a trace. Amarjit was a successful businessman living in west London with his wife Nancy, their two young sons, Devinder and Ravinder, and Nancy’s mum, Charanjit Kaur, but when the entire family disappeared, leaving behind almost everything they would have needed for a life abroad, serious questions quickly began to emerge about what had really happened to them.

At first, there were attempts to make it look as though Amarjit had simply decided to leave England and start a new life with his family back in his native India, but as detectives began pulling apart the evidence, they uncovered a much darker story. It involved Amarjit's haulage business, deception, organised crime and a group of people who appeared to have gone to extraordinary lengths to conceal the truth. The investigation would eventually stretch from west London to Wiltshire, Devon and the south coast, before crossing international borders as police hunted those believed to be responsible.

In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I examine the disappearance and murders of the Chohan family, the investigation by the Metropolitan Police and the evidence that eventually led detectives to the people responsible. What would it be like to lose your identical twin to murder?

In this episode, I talk to Nick Dawson, whose identical twin, Simon, was murdered in the most dreadful attack in 1998. I found this conversation incredibly moving and, at times, very emotional. Nick takes us back to his brother’s childhood and talks about the man Simon was before his life was so brutally taken away. We also discuss the murder itself and the devastating impact it had on Nick and those who loved his brother.

But there is another extraordinary part of Nick’s story. He has met the men who killed his brother. Nick tells me about those meetings, what it was like to come face-to-face with the people responsible for his twin’s death, the questions he wanted answered, and what those encounters meant to him. It is a deeply personal conversation about murder, grief, memory, forgiveness and the search for answers, told by someone who lost the person who, in so many ways, was the closest person in the world to him.

Thursday the 11th of October 1962 at 4:20pm, off Cherry Lane, in Sipson’s Field in West Drayton, the body of 16 year old Carol Ann White was found; she had been brutally stabbed, but not sexually assaulted. Police believed it was connected to a string of other sex attacks in the area. But the true culprit wasn’t hiding in plain sight, but standing by their side.

In early 2011, 33-year-old Adam Vincent was living in the shadow of a heroin addiction in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. Vulnerable, in poor health and increasingly dependent on the people around him, Adam became involved with a group running a local drug operation, but when the people around him became convinced that Adam had stolen from them or betrayed their trust, he found himself facing something far more dangerous than the addiction he was already struggling to escape.

Over the following weeks, Adam's situation became increasingly frightening. People in the local community noticed that he was injured and terrified, while behind the doors of a house in Scartho, tensions within the drug operation were reaching a breaking point. When Adam disappeared, detectives were left trying to work out what had happened to him and why a group of men had gone to such extraordinary lengths to keep their secret hidden. What followed was a huge and complex murder investigation spanning Grimsby, the waterways of Lincolnshire and beyond.
