In our continuing celebration of the Feast of the Beheading of St. John Baptist, we are given an opportunity to hear the gospel appointed for the feast as preached by St. Augustine, the Bishop.

On August 29, we heed the call of the Church to remember the holy life and witness of John Baptist, and today, his Holy Martyrdom. Let us hear the account of his murder from St. Mark's Gospel, and consider the exhortation of St. Ambrose the Bishop on this Feast Day.
