On December 29, the Church Commemorates and Celebrates St. Thomas Becket, Bishop and Martyr, who, though he spent his early life in the pursuit of vanity, learned, by the power of the grace of God, to become a faithful Shepherd of Christ's sheep, even laying down his life for the good of the sheep.

On December 28th, the Church commemorates the Holy Innocents, those young boys in and around Bethlehem, who King Herod killed in a vain attempt to resist the Lord and His Anointed.

On December 27th, the Church remembers and celebrates the life of St. John, who along with his brother James (who would also become a saint), was known as a "son of thunder." This same John, through learning to offer himself to God as a living sacrifice, would become in the grace of God, the apostle of love.

On this 4th and final Sunday in Advent, we are exhorted to be ready for the coming of Christ, both in His Nativity and at His Second Advent. Philippians 4:4; John 1:19
