John McDonough, Rice County Central Veterans Association Commander. Tracy McBroom Rice County Veterans Services Officer and Honorary Grand Marshal of the 2021 Memorial Day Parade. Honored Combat Veteran Don Langar who served in the jungles of Vietnam were on the program to discuss the May 31, 2021 events in Faribault. Kenyon Veterans Color Guard representative Mike McDonald also gave a preview of their observances.

Troy Dunn believes the new Jail/Law Enforcement Center option is the best for Rice County. It will include a mental health unit. He also told us officers catch a lot of drug traffickers through stops for initial minor violations.

John Jasinski of Faribault reviewed the recently completed regular session of the Minnesota Legislature. Jasinski says in visiting with lawmakers who have been in St. Paul a long time, Governor Tim Walz has been more involved in the budget negotiations.

Deb Purfeerst says Rice County is doing very well with vaccinations but we still have about 10 percent more needed to reach the 70% goal. Purfeerst encourages people to get fully vaccinated because it has been proven to be effective.

Todd Sesker says this school year has been the most challenging of his career. He was happy to report graduation will be very close to "normal."
