On this episode, the U.S. EPA has released an update on progress toward the Gulf Hypoxia Action Plan nutrient reduction 2025 interim target. Among other things, the update announced an increase in phosphorus loads compared to baseline numbers. Despite this, an increased understanding of how phosphorus moves through and persists in the environment promises numbers will likely go down in the future. This is due in large part to ongoing research, part of which is facilitated by the Agricultural Nutrient Policy Council. ANPC member Adam Herges, Sustainability Agronomist advisor for Mosaic, joins us to discuss.
