Interest rates are rising and are expected to increase in the coming months. It could be time to rethink your portfolio allocation since the fixed income market may, in time, look considerably more attractive. In this episode of American Consequences, Trish Regan speaks with Neil Grossman – a former physicist, mathematician, corporate attorney, central banker, and hedge fund investor – who says, "The Fed has done just about everything wrong. It's continually buried its head in the sand, refusing to recognize that too much money in the system inevitably leads to inflation." This week, we got proof of the consequences of too much stimulus by way of an 8.5% increase in consumer prices. Grossman points out that the Fed may find itself having to pull a "Paul Volcker," meaning a higher-than-expected escalation of interest rates. While that may cause a pullback in equities, Grossman points out it may also be a healthy opportunity to rethink one's fixed income portfolio.

As gold and oil inch higher in global markets amid ongoing challenges overseas, Trish sits down with Kevin Rich, one of the original architects of some of the world's most important ETFs in the commodity space. Rich tells Trish to “prepare for more volatility and a higher interest rate environment” while conflicts overseas continue. How should investors think about their portfolios and how can they safeguard their assets best?

"Energy prices," he says, "will continue to escalate, providing a positive environment for energy investing." Other sectors he likes include materials and Real Estate, but he warns it will be a delicate balance between the inflation heading our way and the danger that could cause a massive consumer pullback.

With the Fed finally moving on interested rates, Trish Regan sits down with noted investor, physicist and former central banker, Neil Grossman, for a look at the massive inflation creeping into our economy.

According to Neil, the Fed is very much at fault. In fact, he tells her, "Jerome Powell is the financial equivalent of COVID." Neil argues that Powell "has created a kind of eco-demic... a pandemic for our economy." This is an important warning from Neil Grossman who argues inflation may consistently top 5% per year over the next decade.
