In this episode, I sit down with author Carmelo Rodriguez of Dead Solider A Story of The Living. Carmelo served the Army from 2005 to 2010 as a 19D scout. He was attached to three different duty stations during his time with one deployment. Now he is an author who wrote his first book about the time the VA said he was deceased. After the VA wrongfully declared him deceased his life was a crazy roller coaster. Imaging going through life after a mistake that happen to you of that magnitude.

I sit down with Captain Joseph Ivanov who was in the Marines for 8 years and has been a Green Beret in The Special Forces for the last 17 years.  Joey has been going to Normandy for the D Day Anniversaries since 2013. He has jumped in some of the annual parachute drops in some of the past D Day Anniversaries and Mr. Stephen Spears who created the US Navy Memorial which is located on Utah Beach at the Utah Beach Museum and the Dick Winters Leadership Memorial (Band of Brothers) which is also located in Normandy. Joey is doing this project in a partnership with Operation Democracy which is a 501c3 nonprofit, which is located in Locust Valley, NY.

Matthew is a 19-year veteran with the Navy and Coast Guard. While in the Navy he was a minesweeper assigned to a rotational crew for 4 years. The rest of is time in service was with the Coast Guard as a operations specialist on multiple ships. Now he is a Mission 22 Ambassador, who is starting a great inspirational physical and mental health program called 22 peaks project.  Matthew did not have an easy time by no means in service, during his service time he had to fight depression and pancreatitis. While all this was happening to him in service, he was able to overcome them and became a servicemember we all can look up to.

Scott is an Army veteran who served from 1988 to 1992 as a 68R otherwise called avionics specialist equipment repair. He was on three command orders with two deployments, one to just cause and one to operation desert shield/storm. In this episode both Scott and I get our tirades on about how we feel the military and VA could improve. This episode I sit down with my long-time friend Toby. He served in the army as a 11B and 15A from 1966 to 1993. He was part of 8 different commands and was sent on 3 deployments during his time. In this episode I talk to Conor about his time in the Air Force.  Conor went into the air force as an open contract that ended up becoming a crew chief for a C130 bird. When he enlisted, he was in great shape but that ended in 2017 just after three years into his contract. Conor became terribly ill and went to the base hospital to get checked out. During his stay at the hospital, he was being told by a new doctor he was going to be fine while a saltier doc was telling him that it was going to be that easy. Conor ended up being flown back home for further medical help. At this time, he found out he was going to have heart surgery and about 2 to 3 months later he was going to be discharged from the Air Force. Conor is being thrown to the wolfs from the VA. At this point he is only receiving 30% even though he was discharged from service and now has a pump inside his heart. We are reaching out to anyone who can help him, please send him an email with a case you have won that is close to his. Conor has found peace with the Veterans Brotherhood VMC.
