Chad is a Marine Corps officer that has served active duty from 20008 to 2012 and has been a Marine reservist ever since. He has been with CLB-5, 4TH recon commands been deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 with HQMC intel department and has been part of bold alligator, mountain EX, African Lion exercises. Chad continues his fight to help other veteran as an attorney for Veterans and Servicemembers’ Rights Clinic at Touro Law Center in Suffolk County, New York. Chad has been awarded a Purple Heart and a Navy Achievement Medal (NAM).  Chad passes a ton of knowledge in this episode about what veterans can get and how to get to help them in their lives.

In this episode I talk to Brian who is an Army National Guard Veteran who served from 2003 to 2009. Brian did an 18-month deployment to Iraq and now is a Mission 22 Ambassador in the state of Utah. Brian opens up about his PTSD and how he found ways to deal with it, one way is through a foundation called Malinois Foundation who helps people going through tuff mental states by providing them with service dogs.

This episode I talk to Steve who is a 22-year veteran who served from 1993 to 2015. Steve was part of 8 major commands, 4 tours to Iraq, 2 overseas deployments, one rotational deployment to Kuwait and was on the all army wrestling team. During Steve’s time in service he was awarded with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star (2OLC), Meritorious service medal (1OLC) and the bronze de fleury medal.  Steve is now Ohio State Mission 22 Ambassador and is the Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association Chapter Commander for chapter 12-6 in Cambridge Ohio.

Listen to Jamie in this episode as he tells his story of being a Marine in a long line of military family members, his three tours to Iraq, one tour to Afghanistan and one tour with the MEU.  Jamie served his time from 2003 to 20011 and now lives in Iowa as a miner. This episode is filled with laughter from how he earned his call sign hazmat, the time he found a hook warm in his leg to a time he was in Iraq when one of his fellow marines playing with an RPG. He story is not all laughter in fact Jamie opens up to tell his story about getting out of the Marines, finding his family living on food stamps and to find away to keep pushing forward. I am pleased to say Jamie is finding his way and is enjoying his life with his three kids. Semper Fi brother!

Listen to Derek talk about his ups and downs during his service to the Navy. Derek did not have an easy ride with the Navy by any means. He opens up to me about his struggles with becoming a Father and losing his grandfather on the same day, then waiting to be assigned to his first ship with much excitement just to find out he possibly got assigned to one of the worst ships in the fleet. Derek opens my eyes about what it was like to be on ship during a deployment and all the stress he went through during that time in his life. Unfortunately the ship Derek was assigned to had a active shooter and he lost one of his shipmates. Derek is a success story, he hit his all time low while on ship deployed away from his family on one of the worst ships to be on at that time as he took his first attempt at ending his life. I am very grateful he did not achieve his goal at that time and was able to turn his life around and become a great providing father to his two kids and became an engineer to one of the best companies to work for. Thank you for your service Derek!

Listen as I speak with Dave who is a Naval Air Warfare Systems Operator.  Dave tells us how he overcame his struggles with passing some prequalifying standards in bootcamp. Dave served from 2003 to 2009, within his service time he spent time at Kadena AFB in Okinawa Japan, Misawa Japan, Qatar, Iraq, Diego Garcia, Thailand (for about 3 hours) and Guam. After going to all those places, he was part of the first VP squadron to deploy to Iraq as their main detachment.

This episode I talk with Dr. Erik Won who is a Harvard trained doc turned Navy flight surgeon before becoming CTO of Boeing Aerospace. Erik did 8 years in the Navy (94-02). Erik was deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) as the Aviation Combat Element (ACE) Flight Surgeon from 01-02...deployed on the USS Boxer to Kuwait (Ali Al Salem), Jordan, Saudi Arabia, among others.

Now he is the President and CMO of Wave Neuroscience. Erik and his team at Wave Neuro are the world leading experts in Brain Health, Brain Injuries, PTSD, Depression/Anxiety, among others. The tech Erik and his team pioneered involves using computational analytics to solve problems that have never been tackled before in the mental health space and doing it with no medications of any kind.
