The Primary Season is here and so is Deter to walk you through all of the rhetorical ins-and-outs of the next 2-3 months. After establishing the context for where this debate fits within the broader primary process, Deter delineates the dangers of "electability" (10:50), addresses CNN's Mishandling of the Warren/Sanders Feud (14:30), reconsiders the importance of foreign policy to voters (24:45), and unapologetically evaluates the candidates' stage presence: The Nervous Nature of Amy Klobuchar (28:00), Buttigieg's Boring Confidence (33:00), Steyer's Claim to Climate (42:00), Warren's Desperation (45:00), Bernie's Authenticity (47:15), Biden's Broken Record (48:30). Warren wins the night by being unafraid of serving as Commander-In-Chief (51:30) while Bernie doesn't want America to be stuck with the USMCA for another twenty years (55:20). Warren also exposes Buttigieg's frail logic on education (1:01:30) before Closing Arguments (1:09:00). Deter concludes this episode with another warning that playing politics "not to lose" is a dangerous proposition (1:14:00).

Deter and Baugh discuss the latest waste of time in modern American politics: the first single night debate in this primary election! The mass media doesn't want you to be honest about Biden's declining mental faculties but we're not so deferential. Warren works her way a little bit closer to the head of the pack while Bernie plays it safe. Kamala might be the coolest cat on the stage while Buttigieg kind of reminds Deter of Jimmy Carter. Would Booker be a great VP? Klobuchar bores while Beto shines but still has no chance! All that and more this week on "All Bizness Politics."

With 97% of the country (54% of Republicans) in favor of universal background checks, why do Republicans insist upon kowtowing to the NRA? Are they really that powerful? Analysis of the latest polls begs the question who can embody the kind of big change America wants? Those questions and more now that Deter has returned to La La Land.

A coached up Bernie and a disciplined Warren deliver some memorable one-liners that may mean the Democratic Party is finally ready to embrace big, structural change. Buttigieg and Beto still try for style over substance. Marianne is eccentric but quick witted. Bullock fails to make a splash by jumping on the "electability" train already populated by so many other candidates like Delaney and Hickenlooper. Drama should be in more abundance for Night 2 but hopefully this'll be the last we see of many of these candidates.
Robert Mueller appears before Congress and confirms what attentive citizens already knew but will the delivery of this message resonate with Americans at large? Does perception matter more than reality? Baugh argues no while Deter is still holding out hope for Trump's tax returns. All that and more on this edition

Only 12% of Dems have made up their minds but the latest polls reveal that Biden is still relying on Obama's Legacy, Bernie has a huge age problem, Harris has not made hay out of her debate performance while Warren's strength grows consistently. McBizness & Baugh get real with what's going on with the race as well as how current and future political events will alter the landscape.
Is The Left really at odds with itself or are media outlets simply sensationalizing a forgettable moment? Has Biden bounced back or does the 3 way tie for 2nd Place mean a battle is brewing? Deter and Chris reconsider Deter's previous notion that personality trumps policy in this race. Cheers to democracy!!

Perception trumps reality. In this episode, Deter and Chris Baugh discuss Harris's momentum building at the expense of Biden. Bernie's consistent message feeling tired and failing to draw attention. Warren doing well but potentially reminding voters of Hillary. Other than candidates, McBizness and Baugh discuss what issues really drive voters to the polls, what kind of healthcare system might actually work, and what format future debates should take.
