The beauty of sports, footy included, is that it can be a different guy every day. On Friday, Jason Horne-Francis made his case with a full-game effort that helped Port get over the Saints. What about Patrick Dangerfield on Saturday, tearing through Essendon despite not even being on ground for 2/3 of the game? Hello, Gather Round (and the sound effect we use for it)! We hope it pays off for the game as a whole, and we think the bookend games being the most enticing could definitely help with that. The SA clubs will of course be focal points — with the Crows opening the round versus Carlton, and Port hosting the Bulldogs — but a lot of early-season storylines will be merging in Adelaide. From top-8 matchups to shifting styles of play, Round 5 has even more to offer than we initially expected it would.

We remain shocked by both Ethan's correctness and BT's steadfastness in two of the most discussed games from this lengthened fourth round. Good Friday had great energy surrounding it, while it was the Saturday slate that delivered the most. And hey, every team has a win now… so I guess the Easter Monday result is obvious, though it certainly wasn't at halftime.

We've got a spread-out Easter round and a pretty sprawling narrative for it, bookended by talks of drama around the siren. Not many matchups jump off the paper (or screen), but the Holy Thursday Brisbane–Collingwood matchup has tended to give us good games — there's a starting point. We might both be most excited about Crows–Freo on Saturday, given their similar starts to the season as well as last year's meeting. Of course, Sunday and Monday should give us some good footy… but which game will actually deliver?

The weekday games may have somewhat been slogs, but the later Saturday and Sunday games — particularly Showdown 53 — more than made up for what other matchups lacked. The ladder is beginning to take a more definite shape, so we hope you like where your club stands; Ethan definitely doesn't.
