Kellam also spoke about a new contract with their biggest local employer, where they received a 24 percent raise, plus Sunday overtime and holiday pay.

The AWF Union Podcast Independent Labor Voice Tom Buffenbarger was also featured on the podcast today. He spoke about Boeing opening up more manufacturing plants and whether or not they will be unionized. Buffenbarger also discussed the outlook regarding organizing in 2022.

AFL-CIO Government Affairs Director Bill Samuel joined the AWF Union Podcast today to discuss Sen. Joe Manchin and the Build Back Better budget reconciliation bill. He later discussed reforms at the National Labor Relations Board.

The second guest on today’s episode was OPEIU Local 453 Business Manager Tim Lasker. He spoke about attempts to privatize jobs in the Massachussettes public sector and the unique position of unions that represent present Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority employees. 

Mechanical Insulators Labor Management Cooperative Trust Executive Director Pete Ielmini joined the AWF Union Podcast to talk about federal funding for the removal of lead pipes, lead paint and other harmful materials, and how it will create work for Mechanical Insulators. Later in the episode, he discussed how installing mechanical insulation is a great way to minimize the carbon footprint of buildings and mechanical systems throughout the country.

Ohio Federation of Teachers President Melissa Cropper was the first guest on today’s episode of the AWF Union Podcast. She discussed difficulties faced by teachers attempting to unionize at Menlo Park in northeast Ohio. She also discussed legislation introduced by Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) to help students with Social Emotional Learning.

Good Jobs First Executive Director Greg LeRoy was also featured on today’s show. He spoke about CARES Act spending and how those expenditures were poorly documented by most states. LeRoy also discussed the fact taxpayers are funding Amazon warehouse expansions.

He discussed how unions in the area, particularly in Wisconsin, have been affected by So-Called “Right to Work” laws. He also said their membership is greatly benefiting from their new training center.

American Postal Workers Union President Mark Dimondstein made his debut on the AWF Union Podcast today. He discussed a possible new Collective Bargaining Agreement for his members, and how postal workers have dealt with the ongoing pandemic.

Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Rich Fiesta was the second featured guest on the podcast today and he spoke about telehealth and how it ostracizes older people who are unsure of how to proficiently use technology. He also discussed legislation affecting Social Security and unjustified pharmaceutical drug price hikes.

The American Legion Media and Communications Director Jeff Stoffer was the first guest on today’s edition of the AWF Union Podcast. He spoke about a recovery fund for the states affected by recent tornadoes. He later detailed the fight to expand VA benefits to the nearly 250,000 living World War II veterans.

United Steelworkers District 1 Director Pat Gallagher was also featured on today’s episode. He discussed how Ohio’s proposed Congressional map will heavily favor Republicans, while shrinking or eliminating some typically Democratic districts. He also discussed how trade negotiations have affected the U.S. steel industry.

American Federation of Government Employees National President Everett Kelley was the first guest on today’s episode of the AWF Union Podcast. He discussed an executive order issued by President Biden that encourages union organizing. He later explained the AFGE’s involvement in the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment.

United Steelworkers International Vice President At- Large Roxanne Brown was also featured on today’s episode. She spoke about the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act becoming law, why the Build Back Better Act is important for USW members, and USW priorities for 2022.
